<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">As consolation prizes go, an extended weekend trip to tropical Mexico isn't all that bad. But Fred Hoiberg conceded that a weekend in Denver, participating in the all-star weekend's three-point shootout, would have been just as satisfying. Still, despite leading the NBA in accuracy from long distance ? 50 percent (44 of 88) entering Tuesday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies ? the Wolves guard was snubbed from the contest Monday. "I'm honestly happy either way," Hoiberg said. "I've got plans to spend a couple days away with my wife, but at the same time, it would've been fun to go out and participate in all-star weekend. That opportunity doesn't come about every year." The criteria for selection is eluding the Wolves ? coach Flip Saunders half-seriously suggested a series of monitored pregame shootouts, using one player from every team, to determine the final six participants. Of the contestants selected, only one is even close to Hoiberg's efficiency from beyond the arc ? Phoenix's Joe Johnson, who is connecting at a 45.4 percent clip for the season. "I think they do it different on different years, but this year was all about attempts," Hoiberg said. "If that's the case, I don't have much of a chance. That's not my style, to go out there and jack up shots. I try to take shots within the offense and try not to force up bad ones.</div> Link
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Linkin:</div><div class="quote_post">Link</div> ^ Very true, its a shame he doesnt get to be in it, but instead they pick a one legged lenard????
Thats shit for Hoiberg, I have no idea what is wrong with the NBA, if they dont include the number one three-point shooter in the shootout. What else can you say?
Wow, I thought Hoiberg would be the first on the list. It's pretty sad, but I guess that's the point of the All-Star weekend.
Lenard? This is just some dumb PR move. If the NBA knows anything about Quentin Richardson, they know he isn't a real shooter like Hoiberg. He's a streaky shooter.
Well, you cant really be mad that Voshon Lenard got selected, he is the defending champ. If he is healthy enuff to compete then he should be able to defend his title. In past years guys have missed most of the first half of the season yet get selected as a starter to play in the all-star game by fans. And they were allowed to take part even tho they were not healthy enuff to play in any other real games. Most notibly was Penny Hardaway as a Magic, this is no different imo. Fred Hoiberg isnt a volume shooter, so his percentage can be some what deceptive because everything he shoots is wide open. I would have like to see the major representing the Wolves. But looking at the list they were looking for volume shooters more then pure shooters, so its understandable, freddy is not there.
