<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">If All-Star center Zydrunas Il gauskas isn't re-signed by the Cavs this summer - and it sure doesn't seem like pending team owner Dan Gilbert, General Manager Jim Paxson and head coach Paul Silas are on the same page regarding whether he should be - the club can't accuse Ilgauskas of demanding an absurdly long contract.

Word is Ilgauskas has already privately told confidants he only wants a three-year contract, at most - largely because he has no desire to play pro ball longer than that and risk spending his post-career years limping around. </div> Source

This has to be good and bad news for the Cavs. Money wise this should help the Cavs in being able to sign Big Z without having to break the bank on him. The bad news of course, is the Cavs will only have a 3 year window to win it all with him. Is that possible? Or should the Cavs get the ball rolling on bringing a more permanent big man to the team?

I'd re-sign him. As you said, it won't break the bank and the team is much better with him than without him. And if they can add a solid shooting guard alla Michael Redd and bring in a little depth, and you have a potentially championship-calibur team.

In the long-term, Z is essentially around his prime and peak of his career anyway, so you won't have to worry about him should his production fall off. It also gives you a small window to find a replacement, instead of losing your starting center immediately and setting them back.

We just need to try and get this big man back on the team. LeBron has made him so much better, and Z has became one of the elite centers in the league this year!

we definitly need to resign Z. lebron wanted him to come back anyway. lets not see him evolve into Vince Carter #2. there'll be many more during the offseason who'll want to play with lebron. he's a great passer and one of the premier players of the league. give it some time and we'll see a lot of talent down the road [IMG]
