Celtics beat Knicks, 111-94 Good win by the Celtics, finally over the .500 mark. -Nice to see the team get off to a fast start and jump out to the lead, they couldn't keep the lead that high, but it got the crowd into it early. -While I love what GP has done for the team this year, he's clearly getting tired. The team wasn't running with him out there and seemed to stall at points. Banks played very well, Doc should have let him run the show some more. But, speaking of Banks: -If someone could explain to me what Doc is doing with the young points, I would appreciate it. One game West is the man and Banks gets no minutes, the next he's playing Banks first off the bench and West cant get on the floor. -Mike Sweetney... wow. Apparently he's hired Oliver Miller as a personal trainer. -Ricky was all over Jamal Crawford. I'm not sure what the history is there, but Ricky was just talking to him the ENTIRE GAME. My only complaint about it was that at times he seemed a little too intent on taking it to Crawford, sometimes at the expense of the team offense. Same with Jiri - just being too aggressive. -I know he's not suppossed to be a regular part of the rotation, but Googs is just so fundamentally sound. In 1/3 of the minutes, he had more rebounds than Blount. -Speaking of Mark, if he's going to wear the Walter-like bands as a tribute, he should go full out and just stand behind the 3-point line the entire game. -Raef was great again tonight. Another double double. He's really becoming a bigger part of the offense and Paul is looking for him on the pick and roll 3. Nice win against a division opponent. Hopefully the Celtics can get some momentum before the all-star break, cause there's a tough stretch ahead.
I forgot how much Doc likes to run!!! Anyway, the collapse in the 3rd pretty much set the tone for us in the game. A lot of funny stuff in the game. Doc yelling at Banks, Ricky with those 2 no dunk calls. Judging from what I saw yesterday, I think you guys should keep GP. Anyway, you guys won fair and square (actually we had a lot of injuried players ) but nevertheless Good Game
Crawford looks like and sounds like(at least according to thier announcers) a defensive issue for the Knicks. We took advantage of that matchup tonight. Ricky et al really worked him over tonight. C's continue ways against Knicks <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">2nd Quarter Kendrick Perkins (Perk) tipped in a Jiri Welsch (Jiri) miss to make it 31-28. RD put a devastating spin move on Crawford in the post to score an easy layin and then Jiri hit a 3pter over Crawford in transition to tie the game at 33 with 9:41 left in the half. RD then continued his assault with a 12ft jumper to put the C's back ahead 35-33 at 9:08. A very nice piece of teamwork and passing (that led to a Knick timeout) at 8:20 saw a push up the court and RD sending a pass back over his head before going out of bounds under the rim, to a trailing Perk for a monster jam. 37-35 Celtics. <font color="DarkGreen"><font size="1">During this game break, Clydes' collegue showed a clip of the pregame and talked about how well recieved Clyde is by the Celtics fans. He went so far as to ask Clyde jokingly: "Do you ever get nervous surrounded by that many fans in green". It made me reflect on something that I try to remind people is a positive about our fanbase - Respect for and early knowledge of the history of the game. Celtic fans are almost by default historians of the game, because the C's have such a storied tradition of excellence. In order to know about the C's, you get to review alot of general NBA history in the mix. (The only decade we've never been in the championship mix was the 90's.) Of course the kids are going to gravitate to Walt, talk to him, want autographs and pictures. He's not a former Celtic great, but he was a former NBA great and young Celtic fans will acknowlegdge that IMO. Or maybe that's just my hopeful, feel good way of thinking about it.....</font></font> The Celtics came out of the timeout and fought with the Knicks for a while on offense. Rd hit a jumper at 5:57 to make it 42-38. Blount hit his standard 15fter from the elbow to make it 44-40 and PP hit a 3pter at 3:11 and the C's continued to lead 49-45. A long 2 by PP at 2:33 made it 51-45. Raef made a huge play for himself by making himself immediately available for a pass aftering inbounding the ball. He got it right back and scored to make it 56-48 with 1:24 left. Perkins had a nice block, reaching over the top of another Celtic defender to block Stephan Marbury.</div>
Well you have to take into consideration tht Crawford just came from an ankle sprain in which he still had yet to recover 100% from.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting mrj18:</div><div class="quote_post">Judging from what I saw yesterday, I think you guys should keep GP.</div> That's kind of funny, cause I thought that was not one of GP's better games. He looked run down and didn't push the pace the way that he has in the past. I bet he's really looking forward to the All-Star break.
