I know it is only the rookie soph game but BS Melo was MVP. Bosh had a much better line!! Bosh 26 pts 6 oreb 8 reb 4 stls 3 ast 1 blk 0 to 0 pf Melo 31 pts 2 oreb 3reb 2 st 2 ast 2 to 2 pf C'MON ! I dont care if it's Denver!!
We all knew it was going to 'Melo becuase it's in Denver. Wade and LeBron won't get it because they'll play on Sunday. So Bosh despite his great performance had no chance at winning it.
Come one. I know he had a good game but Anthony won it fair and square. He got the crowd hyped and everything. Bosh was good but he really shouldn't have got it. A majority of his shots were open dunks and stuff in the paint, he also got to the freethrow line a lot. He was good but I don't think he should have won.
Melo deserved MVP plain and simple. Denver or not, the high point man is the man who will always get the most recognized, not the man who has the best all around stats.(in all star games normally)
^ Personally it didn't matter to me if Bosh won it or not b/c Melo also played a great game and it is his home-court so it's okay that he got the award, but how could you say that Bosh didn't deserve it considering his performance? Bosh had 26/14/3/4 while Melo had 31/5/2/2 and saying that Bosh's shots don't matter cuz they were from open dunks, inside the paint and freethrow attempts makes no sense at all (points in the paint and freethrow attempts are usually the result of hard work and skill). If you're going to use those as excuses then why not mention that Anthony's 31 points came from perimeter shots and more fg attempts?

meh..i'll just post my repost my post from the ASW thread, since this is my home forum. Well I was thinking Bosh might win it, but the at the end scored a couple of more dunks and had some passes, and it was a lock for him. Hometown, Denver, what do you expect. Plus IMO, Bosh's game was mostly Easy Dunks from his teammates and FT's, but he did play very very well, I just think Melo had an edge because he created some of those shots and ran well in transistion/fast breaks to get some of his dunks. If this was the ASW in the TO...Same game, same stats and everything, Bosh would of won it for sure. On the brighter side, Bosh did better than all the other 16 players and better than Milicic, Kaman and Sweetney
very good point dunksworth... however, melo got the award mostly because it was in denver, love it or hate it

The purpose of the all-star game is to entertain and Melo did more of it. I already said he played very well but he didn't deserve it because he didn't really entertain.
^ if the MVP award goes to the most entertaining player, then I'd rather give it to Korver cuz I was more amazed by his sharpshooting than Melo's performance. Just face it, the reason Melo won was because it was taken place in Denver. I'm not disagreeing with it or anything.... just stating reality.

When you look at it, most people don't get entertained by open dunks and layups. If this weren't a all-star game he'll probably get it but it was.

I just disagree with you when you said Bosh didn't deserve to win. I'm not saying saying that Bosh got screwed and Melo didn't deserve the award b/c I have no problem with Melo winning it...... I just disagree with you if you think Bosh didn't deserve it had he won.

I'm sure most people will get more entertained seeing a dunk contest than a 3 point shoot out. Entertainment reasons - no, if this were a real game than - probably.
Meh, no one really looks at rebounds in an All-Star game, it's mostly about the scoring leader, but the other sophomores were leaving and letting Bosh get the rebounds anyways, and they both scores easy baskets for the most part, so no big deal, who cares.
Hold on. You have to entertain the crowd to win the MVP now? Thats BS at it's purest. The only reason Melo won the MVP is because he is from Denver. Nuff said. I already told my friend when we were watching the game, "Bosh should win the MVP, but since he's from Toronto he's gonna get screwed for sure." Damn I hate when I'm right.

Most Entertaining = Josh Smith // Iguodala because they had some nice jams, all of melo's jams were just two hand jams low on the entertainment scale. And they didn't have power or enthusiasm. Best stat line = Chris Bosh Bosh 26 pts 6 oreb 8 reb 4 stls 3 ast 1 blk 0 to 0 pf Compared to Melo, A difference of 5 points, however 2 steals more, more assists than melo, and no turnovers. And 8 more rebounds. Chris Bosh's points were more of hard working points, his attempts weren't just open dunks, he got fouled many times. Melo was left open to take alley-oops, while Bosh usually had his man a couple feet away. I really enjoyed Chris Bosh's performance, if this was in Toronto. Bosh would have won it in a second.
Quoting mrj18:

Come one. I know he had a good game but Anthony won it fair and square. He put in an awesome effort, but Bosh was really unselfish. I think in the last few minutes, Bosh fed Melo like 3 or 4 times.

If they did than yeah I'll take them too. Yes he did. He had a great game. Again, assists are not really looked at too much. If he had more assists than maybe they'll consider it but usually the leading scorer is usually taken. If Bosh had a better overall game it wont really matter because it's an all-star game.
If you win the MVP based on entertainment values in the Rookie Game, then Josh Smith should have won it. His alley-oop dunks were far more entertaining than Melo's jumpers and simple dunks. Scoring and home crowd is what counts. The whole city of Denver probably wanted to see Melo win it, and the NBA gave them their wishes. Melo scored the most points, although not entertaingly, but his points and home-crowd advantage were all it took to get the MVP award. I'm not saying Bosh didn't deserve it, but the NBA is a business.
