Simply put, to basketball enthusiasts he is remembered for his rings, to the rest of the world, his antics.

Rebounding and toughness. I will always remember him more as part of the Detroit Bad Boys rather than as a cross dressing weird hairdo having rebounding monster with championship rings from the Bulls. But thats just me.

i have to disagree with some of you guys because when i first heard of Rodman, it had nothing to do with him on the basketball court. but then when i first saw him play, i noticed his toughness and great rebounding ability. still, i will always remember Rodman for the things he did off court.

For me I always remembered Rodman as the eccentric funny coloured hair guy(which I quite like). But once I look beyond that, I see his rebounding, toughness and "not-so-good" shooting.

    my opinion

In my opinion most people will remember him for his antics not his immense skill and his rings which is really too bad.

True basketball fans will remember Rodman as the tough nosed defender and rebounder. From being the sixth man on the Detroit Pistons, to leading the league in rebouding for 7 consecutive seasons, his legacy will be that of a player who gave his all on the ball court and has 5 championship rings to show for it. What I'll remember him for most is his rebounding, and his tenacious defence especially on Karl Malone in the NBA finals.

But for people that started watching the NBA after he retired will probably remember him as just a pretty weird guy. He starred beside Jean Claude Van damme in a horrible movie (can't remember the name) and had a stint in the WCW. And of course he got married in a wedding dress.

No doubt he will be remember for his antics off of the court. He was a great rebounder...but what he did off of the court was stupid. People remember bad before good all the time. Look at Mike Tyson, what do people remember about him? How he was a rapist, beat his wife, bit Holyfield's ear. They don't remember how great of a boxer he was.

For two seasons in Detroit he averaged over 18 rebounds per game. I'll remember him for his passion for the game... and his 5 NBA rings, just one of which the likes of superstars such as Karl Malone, Ewing, Payton etc would give their nuts for

he will always be remembered as a great defender and rebounder, to those who have seen him play. i remember him playing against karl malone during the NBA finals, 98 or 97? he was good at getting into the head of other players.

of course, to those who haven't seen him play, they'll remember him for his antics. but once they see him in action, maybe it'll change their minds

I hope hes coming back next season. According to the TV show "Rodman on the Rebound" he has been alcohol free and been working out ever since his motorcykle accident (he worked out before though, but he partyed the rest of the time)

Sadly, I think people will remember Dennis for his off-the court and character issues than being the good player he was at Detroit, San Antonio, and Chicago. I am not sure how Dennis became a crazy person when Chuck Daly left and he obviously embraced being that character. I have to admit I will remember him more for his off-the court issues.

Rodman was alright. He was crazy though, but then again I know good people that are crazy. One thing about Dennis. He marches to the beat of his own drum and he has a unique character.
