<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LakerJam@LG.net:</div><div class="quote_post">Yep, an agent for one of the players involved, which makes sense because Jack had also said that one of the players (likely the one whose agent leaked it) had been notified to be ready. ______ Lakers Still Trying: You gotta hand it to the Lakers, when they decide to start trade talks they leave no stone unturned. According to sources inside The Lakers El Segundo offices, they have made at least introductory talks with almost every team in the league. The source claims this simply to be due diligence by Mitch Kupchak looking for what he is telling media is the ?one significant? piece. Mitch told media this week that he did not think he could get a great deal done before the Thursday deadline, but he?s trying. With both sides running from the Carlos Boozer rumor, that was supposedly started by an agent working with a client allegedly involved in the deal. The Lakers are seriously talking and it seems Caron Butler and Devean George were the anchors of every scenario tossed out in Denver to more than a half dozen GMs. The Kings countered overtures on Peja Stojakovic with Lamar Odom, and the Jazz rebuffed offers flat out after mending the fence with their $68 million forward. The Lakers supposedly asked about Baron Davis, who this week said he felt like ?it is getting to a point to where I just don't feel like I'm wanted? in New Orleans. The Lakers appear to be one of the more active teams in the league trying to make a deal, and the telling tale may be Devean George who is telling those close to him in LA, he thinks he?ll be elsewhere by Thursday. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Caron1:</div><div class="quote_post">Wow, this is really frustrating. I spent a good part of two hours on the phone with everyone I knew from the Lakers, trying to get some sort of indication what was ahead for the team. I can address questions as I do have a lot of new info, but its annoying becuase nothing seems to be concrete. Three different people have me three different answers. Nobody knows what the hell is going on. Heres what I can say definitivley: 1) The Boozer deal isnt completely dead but late yesterday it started to fall apart when I guess Utah realized they were getting ripped. The GM's denying talks, thats a complete lie...the deal was all set to go and Utah got cold feet. Kupchak called Utah early this morning, and I have no word of what went on. From what I gather that could have made or broken the deal. Either way, it isnt looking very promising. 2) We are by far the most active team in the league right now. I got rumors from people I hadnt read ANYWHERE. For example, one reliable source told me we were prepared to offer Caron and a 1st rounder for Alston and Donyell Marshall. Had anyone heard anything of this? It was new to me. Good thing though, its not happening. I know we are still talking to NO about Davis, and his comments seem very appropriatley timed. If we were to get him, it wouldnt be the identical Boozer package though. Caron would be involved, but NO apparently asked for Luke Walton or a pick instead of Vlade. Im pretty sure the teams were still talking with some civility at like 1:30 this afternoon. Other then that, Ive heard a swirl of "ideas" but nothing that is anywhere close to being done. 3) Dont count the Sacramento deal as completely dead yet. From everyone I talked to and my personal opinion, the Lakers got out because of the Boozer situation. (I'm still not sure if it was legitimate or not. One source told me it was completely fake, another one said yes the teams had talked). Anyways, I think that if we cant do anything by Thursday this deal MIGHT come up again. But Im not going to pull any Haley-esque guarantees. Did anyone hear him on the radio today? I missed it... Anyways, I can answer some questions if anyone wants. But like I said, I have no real concrete news to report.</div> Caron1 is a respected member from CL who has supposedly been accurate in the past, so there it is..
Just messing around with Trade Checker.. Lakers trade: Caron, Vlade, George Lakers get: Baron Why NO does this: They get Caron Butler. He is young, athtletic and has a great work ethic. They get cap relief in Vlade and George. NO is rebuilding with young players, J.R. Smith, Dan Dickau, and Caron Butler can be a nice core. Why LA does this: They get a top 5 pg when healthy. Baron would draw so much revenue for the Lakers, as he is from L.A. He would be able to push this offense up and down the floor, and plays D. The only reason I could think NO wouldn't do this deal is because they are adamant about getting Luke Walton. Could we possibly send them Grant and take on Jamal Mashburn's contract (80% paid by insurance is what CL states)? Something like... NO trades: Baron and Jamal (contract comes off of the books in 1 year) NO Gets: Brian Grant, Luke Walton, Caron, Devean, and Vlade (basically just Caron, Devean, Grant, and Luke) Although, rumors are Baron could be going to Philly for Salmons, Green, and Robinson.
With the way Walton is playing tonight, I swear...give him to New Orleans, he is pure garbage tonight...
Anyone catch the post-game show on SCSR? Jack Haley did his best to cover up the mess he created for himself. His co-broadcasters couldn't stop laughing at him. He's still preaching his sources were credible and the deal was agreed upon.
Gah, I don't like even looking at Wack anymore. I doubt there is going to be a trade before the deadline now, unless Kupcake wants to work some magic, if he has any...
Here are some posts from LG <div class="quote_poster">Quoting prestodone:</div><div class="quote_post">Can Anyone confirm this? I just read this on a Jazz board posted by some guy called Dr. Laker. He said that he heard on 1540 that caron's agent leaked it out because he didnt want to leave LA and wanted to squash the trade. He said caron has missed practice and the game not because of the flue but because he was pisd-Off. He said the Lakers are really pushing to trade him now. I think hes making stuff up but dont know.</div> Possibility? Also, rumor is the Jazz organization is set to make an announcement on 1320 kfan at 4:40 pm ( I think Mountain, not sure)....rumor is a Harpring trade, but you never know...Rick Bucher, yesterday on ESPN NEWS, said that the trade was still alive and lurking around in the heads of the Jazz organization and Lakers O, so you never know... EDIT: Here is a post by Sky, from Emplay <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sky:</div><div class="quote_post">Emplay asked me to pass some stuff along for you guys, he says he'll be around later this afternoon. "Tell everyone there's a lot brewing - something may happen in LA or nothing" He says he's heard from multiple sources that Mitch is trying extremely hard to get a deal done. I've heard the same, no stone unturned, Mitch has been very aggressive, some deal WILL go down. In New Orleans the Bugs are reportedly talking Baron deals with two clubs, one may be the Lakers. But it came out today that Baron will be out two more weeks, his achilles is not responding well to treatment and that's liminting his lateral movement. No Baron for two weeks may give the Lakers pause. I'd hope they would think longer term, but one of the goals is playoffs, and given the brutal schedule every game is crucial. Emplay has also heard that Memphis is ofering Lo Wright, Dahntay Jones and Humphries around the league. Lakers may be interested in that. I don't think that package would require Caron but probably Luke, Devean and Vlade.</div> here is a quote about sky.. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting GuRu:</div><div class="quote_post">great to see you post here Sky. Thanks for the info and a very cordial welcome For those of you that dont know....Sky is an amazing source for lakerinfo and general possible knowledge. hes also an incredibly talented photshopper Responsible for this little beauty, one of my personal favorites...
Haha, that picture is hilarious. I heard on the radio, Butler travled with the Lakers for tonight's Portland game. He might actually suit up for the game, so there goes that conspiracy theory down the drain. The Lakers obviously need to make some changes, but I don't want them rushing into to a bad deal. We still control our own destiny as far as the playoffs go, and in the summer we'll have more leverage over teams to get a deal done. Kobe and Odom played a lot better in their first game together since Kobe went down. Kobe has deferred more responsibility over to Odom, and Odom came through last night for the team even though he struggled with foul trouble in the 1st half.
