KG wanted to skip the all star game but when he informed the league of his wish he was informed that he would have to be placed on the injured list for the next 5 games.

The All star game is something that is meant to celebrate basketball and how the season is going for the NBA.

When a Player like KG who everyone in the league knows is under the weather wants to sit out so he can help his real team the timberwovles for the rest of the season, not the west all stars. He is threatened with being put on I/R for 5 games. what is with that?

The All star game is not meant to make people play in it, that was very stupid of the league. Lets just be thankful that Grep Popivich was respectful enough of KG and the timberwovles wish to try and rest his knee to get healthy and that he only played KG 16 minutes.

Bad move by the NBA [IMG]

They should respect the man wishes of sitting this one out. I cant believe they did this. Making a threat like that.

A sad day in the NBA

That is really stupid. So like if your wife died and you had to go to her funeral during All-Star Break they would have to put you on the injured list? Wow.

I'm glad he only saw limited minutes, he just needs to relax.

That rule is not just for KG, its for everybody. That rule was put into the collective barginning agreement during the last lockout because guys like Karl Malone & Charles Barkley use to hate to play in the game. I would agree that it was a bad move, if it was only for KG, but it isnt. And rules are rules. KG didnt play much anyway, I understand that the things that go along with the event like interviews & appreances can be stressful as well. But Greg Pop did a good job of respecting Kevin Mchale's wishes. And limiting KG. He has a couple days to rest now, so he should be ok for the 2nd half.

That's a different case. I'm sure if KG's wife suddenly died, the league would have allowed him to skip the game. It's a rule but, I don't agree with it. It wasn't that KG didn't want to play but it was because of his injury and what's his team has been going through. The league could have replaced him and let some players like Elton Brand play instead. Well I'm glad Greg P. respected his wishes and let him rest with Duncan. When the West was trailling in the final minutes of the game, he could have asked KG to play but didn't. I respect that. Well it's over, so it's doesn't matter anymore.

BTW, I don't completely understand the main event's post.

He's just saying to ignore his post.
Yeah, it's a bit unfair, but KG and Duncan both played limited roles, and both actually played pretty well for the limited minutes( I think Duncan might of racked up MVP if he stayed in) but they have a few days rest now and should be fine.

Obviouisly, it's not an issue anymore since he did not play much. Good job by Popovich.
