www.hoopshype.com i don't know which players are going to be traded buti think we would have to give up 'Rafer, 'Jalen or 'Donyell 'ILOVETHISTRADE
Yeah there's a lot of TO trade rumours... and this is just another... i really doubt this trade will go down, but the trade i'm hoping for is the Dalembert for Marshall...
Right now the rumour is that we'd be giving up Alston, Murray, and Marshall for Baron. I honestly don't see the point in this trade. I thought the main reason why we'd get rid of Alston was because he was too trigger happy for a guy shooting under 40%, and I thought we'd be looking for more of a pass-first point guard. Baron Davis has almost the same game as Alston so I don't really see the point. He even takes more shots than Alston which could affect the development of Bosh. Oh well, in terms of talent I'd say this would be a pretty good deal...... I'm just not convinced that Baron is the kind of pg we're looking for. EDIT: I forgot to mention Baron's monster contract and how he is even more injury prone than VC. So having a contract like that is not ideal for a team that's rebuilding and is also burdened by Rose's contract. That's just too much risk for an injury prone player..... But I guess it wouldn't be bad if we were to get rid of Rose's contract in the process.
This is just a rumour right now. I don't know whether I would be happy or sad that Baron Davis is in Toronto. He is probably the MOST injury riddled player in the NBA right now. Of course he has the talent to be one of the best point guards in the NBA but he has only played 15 games thus far in the season, 67 games last year, and 50 games the year before. Add in the fact that he has 4 years left on his contract and we are basically handcuffed with a player that is often injured. On the other side of the coin he is an amazingly talented player. LIke I said, he has the potential to be one of the best point guards in the NBA. Great 3 point shooter who can actually pass the ball and get his teammates involved. Here is the actual rumour: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> a concerted effort to dip below the salary cap next season, New Orleans is this space's nominee to make the most noise before the deadline. Bad back and bad contract ($63M over next four seasons) notwithstanding, Baron Davis is almost guaranteed to go, along some with lesser lights. I presume it's no surprise to learn the Raptors are offering to provide asylum for the puffy point guard ($12.3M), a squatter for all but 17 games. Sources say Sam Mitchell's pet antagonist Rafer Alston ($3.5M), Lamond Murray ($4.8M) and Donyell Marshall ($5.8M; currently, perhaps, the most desirable rising free agent) may want to start getting their Cajun groove on. Of course, Babcock may want to ask himself: "Hmm, if Davis is unhappy and unhealthy [his people swear to me he doesn't need back surgery] playing for a Bourbon Street Walker, why would anything change in Toronto?" </div>source

this trade is ridulous, davis is more injury prone then carter, and he is more a distraction in the locker room then carter, y do we want to bring back another bad contract, bad back, and a distraction. sure, he and bosh can work as a 1-2 punch but i rather focus on bosh development and draft. then we'll have more leisure in the offseason....this season has been tanked.
^ Davis isn't a distration in the locker room, I don't know where that came from, but he's very injury prone, and his contract is big, though it would fit him if he could actually stay healthy. Baron would be a good acqusition if he was healthy, but at this stage, I don't like this trade too much.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Gotrunks226:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah there's a lot of TO trade rumours... and this is just another... i really doubt this trade will go down, but the trade i'm hoping for is the Dalembert for Marshall...</div> I agree bro baron has an inflamed disc in his back and missed the majority of the games in the last three year and i like that article in the sun that has stated that philly has offered dalembert this is what was stated in the same hoops hype column regarding baron about samuel: The Philadelphia 76ers are said to have offered centre Samuel Dalembert to the Raptors, while San Antonio, Miami and Chicago are supposedly also interested. Marshall's agent, Andy Miller, was reportedly urging Babcock to deal his prized client. Jalen Rose and Eric Williams have also spurred interested, most notably from the New York Knicks." You know what, the Baron trade could actually be pretty good, if we do that, we keep him for the year, and if it doesn't work, we can look to trade him to an LA team in the summer. Baron is still a good PG though, he can carry a team to the playoffs himself like he's done with New Orleans, he was a legit MVP candidate last season when healthy, and he's a very capable player, but the injuries are not good. I heard Philly also has an offer for Baron.... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1996931 Just a little article about the Baron and NOH situation...
it could happen because hornets wants to clear cap... and gettin jalen and donyell will be a big clear of cap
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Tesh15:</div><div class="quote_post">it could happen because hornets wants to clear cap... and gettin jalen and donyell will be a big clear of cap</div>How is acquiring Jalen helping NO's cap at all? He has almost the same deal as Baron's. The trade they are reporting is for Rafer, Lamond and Marshall.
The thing about Baron is, is he willing to play for Toronto? in the cold? if i remember correctly, he lived in LA with the nice climate, New Orleans and Charlotte.. not as bad as Toronto but all i'm saying is he willing to play for the Raptors and give it 100% instead of dogging it like Vince did...
thanks but no thanks, I'd much rather start new, build around Bosh and draft some decent players around him. We already know what it is like to be handcuffed by cap problems and it ain't pretty.
what i dont get is why people here actually WANT baron davis? he's more injury prone then vince, and the last thing we need in toronto is another injury player who takes too many ugly jump shots. he's missed more time over the passed few years then vince has...and he's on a max contract, or at least close to it. he's probably one of the LAST players id want here. i cant believe some of you havnt learned from vince. you'd think that most of you guys would be sick of having a huge portion of our cap space taken up by someone whos not even playing id rather have jalen then baron frankly
The only way if Toronto should do this is if they get Jamaal Magloire in this trade involving Baron too... thats the only reason that TO should do it..
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Gotrunks226:</div><div class="quote_post">The only way if Toronto should do this is if they get Jamaal Magloire in this trade involving Baron too... thats the only reason that TO should do it..</div> if they did that then this may not be a rebuilding team...we would have the veterans on the team thats needed to make a push in the east... we could still draft some talent that we can groom for the upcoming years, but if magloire and davis was here, we may solitify our current roster for a couple of years....(this is all bearing Davis's health)
It'd be better if it was Marshall and Lammond and someone else for Maglorie. But i doubt New Orleans would do this.
If we could rest Baron this year, and try to get him healthy... If he's healthy, and a i realize thats a big if, but if he is he's one of the best players in the league. Him with Bosh and some other defensive peices would be very legit in the East. I'd do it if i was feeling lucky, right now i dont know how i feel.
