The Nets started the game off tonight against the Raptors extremely hot. And even built up a 19-10 lead tonight vs the Raptors. But that that point on the Nets went extremely cold from the field. And the hang over from all-star weekend was in full effect. The Nets shot 32% from the field after the 1st quarter. Ron Mercer (2-8 fg), Cliff Robinson (0-6), Jacque Vaughn (3-7) are some of the most noticable who really struggle to make a perimeter shot. But no one struggled more then former Raptor Vince Carter, despite having an encore performance of his spectacular move against the Lakers, you know the infamous 360 degree layup, yeah, he did it againt, the rest of the night for Carter was extremely forgettable. Poor shot selection and a bunch of turnovers led to a 7-23 performance. And actually probably put a slight smile on Vince Carter nay sayers. Carters defense was just as bad as former Raptor teammate Jalen Rose ripped Carter & the Nets to pieces. Rose finished 12 of 15 from the field in route to dropping 30 points on Jersey. Chris Bosh also took advange of the Nets then frontline, which was even thinner with Nenad Krstic out due to a illness. Bosh only finished 4 of 10 from the field but he was able to use his athletism to keep the Nets bigs in foul trouble. Bosh finished with 16 points- 12 rebounds, and 8 for 8 from the free throw line. Nothing much else to talk about in a extremely dissappointing Atlantic division loss for the Nets. Good thing is they are able to put this game behind them and get right back at it tommorrow against Micheal Redd & the Bucks. Hopefully our defense intensity will have returned from the all-star break. And a few guys step up to help Kidd & Carter out on offense. What else can I say: No Defense and no husstle and no ball movment = no victory. This is one of the games that I thought that the Nets had locked down, but I guess that I was wrong.....I hope the Nets were just saving thier energy for tommorrow night's game against the Bucks .
I think the whole Vince and T-dot game got blown out of proportion. Vince showed that he still has respect for all of the Raptor players, I guess alot of people thought it was gonna be a grudge game but it wasn't. Vince played a good game, and Kidd flirted with another triple double. Good game for Bosh and Rose too, was a good game.

I guess its gonna take you Jersey folks a while to realize he has no D!

His offensive game, especially his dunks, easily overshadows anything else he does so therefore, no one notices how good of a defender he is.
Vince Carter plays defense sometimes, he isnt a standout defender by any means. But you can tell that when the other guys on the floor make an effort(especially J.Kidd) to pick up their team defense, Carter usually follows suit. He isnt the type of guy that will be the one to encourage guys to pickup their energy on D tho....and that is what you would want out of one of your leaders. He pretty much goes with the flow, last night the team flow was to play no defense, so Vince played no defense. On a side note it did seem like Jason Kidd was calling out Vince a bit in his post game interview. He said" If all guys are going to do is try & get stats then he will just go & sit down to watch." I think that was a clear shot at Vince's shot selection last night which was horrible.
They were struggling the whole game.. maybe the allstar weekend vacation for the players were to long. Maybe they will regroup and get a win against the bucks
horrible game, vince couldn't make a shot and (unfortunately) not surprisingly, no one could pick up the slack.
The Nets looked just as horrible last night against the Bucks. The team defense is taking a serious nose dive, Collins who never could stay out of foul trouble is only getting worst at managering his 6 fouls. The Nets frontline cant guard anybody Jabari Smith gets beat backdoor by bigs cutting in the lane & attacking on the offensive boards all day long. Cliff Robinson looks every single bit of his age. Cliff looks slow & aged on both ends of the court right now. And with Nenad out we have no frontline scoring. The Nets desperately need Krstic to return along with Rodney Buford cause nobody in a blue jersey can make a shot. Billy Thomas has struggled sine the Nets took him off ten day. And extend his deal for the rest of the year. Also Ron Mercer looks bad out there right now. The Nets need better team defense & ball movement on offense if they want to stay in this divisional race cause time is slipping away. Lucky for the Nets the Celtics lost last night. But Iam starting to see catching Philly as a bigger problem especially now that they got Webber on there roster.
It was a bad night for NJ. I saw it on Yes yesterday for a little bit and at the 3rd it was a pretty reasonable 5 point deficit. I went and watched a little ESPN, then go back and the score was completely blown up! I saw an open layup for many people and Joe Smith had some easy dunks. What's going with the Nets? I usually see some nice defense from them. Anyway, if they have any hopes of making the post season they will have to start wining these type of games, much less get blown out. Also, Carter can't be the only scoring option. He has done a nice job putting the ball in the hole however, once he goes cold, someone else has to pick up the slack for the Nets.
One question to the Nets fans: How do you feel, when you're team got blown out by 18 against a division rival who're suppose to be worse than you are, and you see one your best players joking around, laughing, and hugging the other team's players after a humiliating loss like he won a game 7 of a playoff series?
The former I feel sad about, the latter I think simply shows the sportsmanship of VC. I dont like the loss, but Carter's gestures do not bother me. He tried having a good game, but over tried, and all you can do is look forward to the next game.
