The <insert your city here> Kings According to the Sacramento Bee, the plan to develop lands north of the exsiting Arco Arena have fallen through. Does this mean that the Kings are going to move? <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Steve, Thurtle, a member of the landowners group and senior vice president of Richland Planned Communities, said he too believed that this could mean the basketball team would look to relocate. "It's my understanding the Kings have other alternatives in other cities beyond Sacramento," Thurtle said.</div> thank you very much Sacramento for doing as much as you possibly can to force the only thing this city really has going for it right out the door.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BobbyEscobar:</div><div class="quote_post">...hmmm The New York Kings. Has a nice ring to it.</div> No it doesn't There's one team and hopefully the Nets don't move to Brooklyn. One team plays in the Mecca of basketball. The New York Knicks!! Stay in Cali, Kings!
hahaha.... I got home & fired up my browser. to cruze on in here to see whats being said since I posted this... and this is something that I just had to share because of the irony here is the random google ad that was at the bottom of this thread when I came in here: for those that dont know, Natomas is the part of town that Arco Arena is currently located in.
I will have a full report as all major players are currently on the air on the local radio at this moment.
Las Vegas is the logical choice since the Maloofs own the Palms Casino there, and it's not that far from Sacramento. There are also no state taxes in Vegas, which could attract a lot of free agents. Vegas is also one of the fatest growing cities in the nation. Las Vegas Kings has a nice ring to it.
^ It indeed does and attendance wouldn't be bad. When I went down there during Christmas alot of condos and stuff were being built. A monorail stop to a new arena would be a good idea too. Stil the city has a nice rign, but an NBA Team in Sin City? With Las Vegas ditching their pitch at making LV a friendly family based city and turning to the "what happens in vegas stays in vegas," woudl the image conscious NBA let them relocate to LV?
this just in: Joe Maloof has publicly just said that the Kings are still committed to finding a way to get the deal done and stay in Sacramento. Among other comments that he made were the fact that yes, they could in fact move to another city, but Sacramento has shown support for their team as no other city in the history of the NBA has (clearly a reference to the record string of sold out games and the amount of sold out games dating back to when the Kings were the doormat of the league). A hopeful direct quote: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We love Sacramento and we know what a good deal we have here, we just need to get our collective heads together and find another way to make this deal happen.... ... We're going to get this thing done, I dont know how or when, but we're going to get it done..."</div> I surely do hope that the Kings orgainization goes to the neighboring city of Roseville (which by the way is in placer county, not Sacramento county) and makes a deal with them to build an arena there. keeps them in sacramento and screws the city out of any possible monitary benifits.

There has been nothing to indicate that he has changed his mind, and I really dont think that he has. Perhaps the next comish will relax that sentiment, but I cant really see Stern doing that.
The London, Ontario, Canada Kings! The players would want to come for the better looking women, the fans would want to come for the non-p*ssy beer and everyone would want to stay for the exchange rate! yay! j/k

How about moving the Kings to San Francisco then? Or Stockton?
I wonder if this has anything to do with the Webber trade? Saw they weren't getting a new stadium and need a way to lower the payroll (even slightly)...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting shapecity:</div><div class="quote_post">That's interesting, since Caesar's Palace owns a piece of the New York Knicks. Or Stockton?</div> as far as I had understood Park Place had sold off their share of the ownership of MSG the Knicks and the Rangers because the NGC refused to allow them to have a sports book in any of their NV operations untill they sold it. that was back in 98. Did they re-aquire a share since then? I know that the Maloofs first casino that they had prior to the Palms and after they had aquired the Kings did not have a sports book for the exact same reason. add to that, I have been to the Palms a couple times and now that I try to think of it, I cant remember seeing a sports book in there anywhere.... I could be wrong.... once I get into a casino im pretty much sucked in by the craps table but thats interesting. time to hit google & start checking that stuff out.
Yeah Palms has a sportsbook, but you cannot bet on the Knicks, I think the same is true of Caesar's Palace and the Knicks. I'm not sure if they still own a % or not. Here's the link to the Palms sportsbook Link
