WOW! I didn't believe anyone when i heard this. Sorta seems like what the knicks did with Marbury, gave up some pennies for him . maybe you guys wont do good either or you'll be one of the best teams in the east, who knows
This is looking to be a very very good trade for Philly. It allows Iverson to finally play beside a bonafied superstar in CWebb. Will they coexist? I would not see a problem as to why they can't. Webber is a pretty unselfish player and can play the pick and roll with AI to perfection like he did in Sacramento. The thing that bothers me is that the Sacramento GM Geoff Petrie is known to be a really shrewd dealer when it comes down to trades. For him to give up an all star calibre player for essentially 3 role players is very questionable. I think it's two things: 1. He thinks that Brad Miller and Peja will be able to flourish now that they have a bigger role in the offense due to Webbers absence. OR 2. He knows something that Philly doesn't. I have heard reports that despite Webber is playing really well this season, he is still playing on one leg due to knee surgery. All in all IF Webber can stay healthy for two seasons this trade can work out for Philly. They have an amazing lineup as pointed out earlier in this thread. But the big question is how healthy Webber is and how long he can continue to play at such a high level.
This is a great pick up for the sixers. C-Webb is gettin old and had the knee problems but how can you argue with 20 and 10. If he stays healthy they may be talking about him and A.I. in the same breath as Malone and Stockton.
i see a 10 game winning streak for the sixers cwebb with a double-double, AI a scoring machine, korver with 3s, dalembert in the center and andre...well he's good...wow what a lineup.
Haha, I should go bust out my old throwback Webber Bullet's jersey. Bet none of you have that one. lol
This is an amazing trade for the Sixers. Although Webber may be getting old, he's still an all-star caliber(although I must admit, he should have been one this year.) PF and is the player that Iverson needed playing along with him. Now that our PF problem is solved, should we go after another PG in the draft, or maybe even another big?
Great trade for the Sixers. They're shortening their bench, but you have to give talent to get talent. I think it will take a few games, but once Webber and AI get on the same page, they could be a deadly combination. As a Celtics fan, I am NOT happy about this...
All i have to say is why? The kings gave up an all-star and their chance at a title for three over-priced forwards. I'll have to give philly their props. But it makes you question pertie for this move. The sixers will be alot better but don't expect a title run. I think their starting line up is top 5 in the east now but they don't have a bench now. I would trade big dog for some utility foward like a desmond mason or a mehmet okur type player for some size off the bench.
Man! What a steal for the sixers. If Big Dog was healthy, a lineup of AI Korver Glenn Robinson Webber Dalembert could've taken the sixers back to the nba finals. EDIT: You dont see 3 #1 overall picks(AI, Glenn and Webber) on the same team very often!!
I don't think so, I think he was top 5. Anyway, SIXERS GOING TO THE TOP. Save G-ROB till the end of the season, so we can have cap room to sign back Dalembert and Korver.
Something in me wants Robinson to play for us this season..also I want to trade him.Certainly I don't want to let his contract expire
Great trade for Philadelphia. I didn't actually believe this until I check on Espn, but man is this a great deal. Trade a bunch of high expensive contracts for a bonafide All Star. Sure, I know I'll miss Kenny Thomas's hustling and Williamson, but this is Chris Webber who can basically do what they can combined, and do it better. I just hope he can stay injury free and if the team gets some chemistry going, Philadelphia would be going far into the playoffs.
This is a very sound trade for the Sixers. I am really excited, I heard about it last night on Sportscenter and started jumping up and down. Even though this is Chris' thirteenth year in the NBA, he seems like a young guy to me still. He's had great numbers this season with 21ppg, 10rbg, and even 5apg. So, finally he'll be that second go-to-guy that Iverson has longed for his whole career. I long to see them in their outings, I think they'll combine to be one of the better combos in the NBA, and get us off that .500% mark hump finally. I don't see Barnes and Bradley contributing much to the team, maybe being 11 and 12th men. Everyone knows they are just throw in guys, they have been for their whole career, getting bounced from team to team. The only thing we're losing in this trade is a bit of an assist percentage, our team outlook on assists will go down by 2, but that's not a biggie. However, out points outlook rises by 12. -------------- Trade Source Trade Press Conference
Okay, where do I start? First and foremost, this is an amazing trade for us. We can?t go wrong with this trade. Now while it's a downer that we lost virtually every big body off of our bench with the exception of Jackson, for Chris Webber is was certainly worth it. Here is what this trade gives us. For the first time ever Allen Iverson has a perennial All-Star alongside him. Webber is finally the low-post threat that Iverson requested for when asked what this team was missing. He clearly specified that he wanted a big body in the low post, and he finally gets what he wants. Chris Webber unselfishness will make players like Dalembert, Korver and Iguodala much better players. Webber health will be an issue, but thus far he?s proved that he could stay healthy for this season. Averaging near a triple double in his last five games, Webber will put this team in the upper echelon in the Eastern Conference pending on how well him and Iverson gel. It will take some time for him and Iverson to become the tandem that everyone expects them to be. But as time goes on, this combo could potentially be a very lethal one. I can just see now?Webber and Iverson running the pick and role and Webber hitting the GW shot on the top of the key. Based on statistics this is the highest scorned duo in the league. It?s going to be hard for them to maintain their season averages, (29.8 and 21.3 respectively) but expect to see them to finish among the Top 3 in scoring duos. As far as their relationship goes, I think they will get along famously. You may expected there to be a little conflict between them because of the touches, but I think that will not be a factor. The numbers and so on will not mean anything to them. Like Iverson has expressed on countless occasions, numbers don?t mean a thing to him anymore. He just wants to win. He no longer gets thrills from scoring 50+ points and losing. He just wants to win, and to win his numbers may slightly take a fall. But if he wants to win that's something he must be willing to accept. So all in all, I think this duo will be something to look out for. Without Webber this team had potential to make the second round, but adding Webber to the equation this team just may potentially have what it takes to make the NBA Finals. That may sound a little over generous but they just may have a chance but it could all depend on who they face. Well like all trades, there come many negatives to along with the positives, some of those negatives are? Can Webber fit into O?Brien system? C-Webb can occasionally hit the 3pt shot only when needed but 3pt shot or not, he?s a big guy and isn?t required to shot the 3-ball. But most importantly can he run the floor? The primary source of offense for the 76ers is in the open court, now while C-Webb can lead a fastbreak will he be able to run/lead a fast break for 30-35+ minutes? As CourtVision said, despite Webber great play this season, the Kings may know something that we don?t. And that is? Is Chris Webber really managing to play on merely one leg? If that is indeed true, we could be in trouble. Another issue concerning his health is? How healthy REALLY is that leg? This should be the main focus. Again, he has showed so far that he can potentially finish this season on an injury free note. But once it?s Playoff time how long will his leg hold up? The Playoff?s are much more intense and his leg may be a vulnerable aspect. But then again, he is playing in a much less opposing Conference, so that should be to his advantage. But you never know. And lastly, will we se C-Webb next season? There?s has been word well over a month ago that Chris Webber made his mind up on retiring. However, his cousin persuaded him to stay one more season, and according to the article this is the only reason why Webber is still playing in the NBA today. Now while I'm sure he will want to experiment this relationship with Iverson and see what happens, let's face it, they are not still by no means championship contenders and that?s what Webber has been thriving for. That said, are we safe to say that we will C-Webb next season? As for the forgotten players in this trade, they may be of some use. Okay, Bradley won?t be of much use, but Barnes will be with the quality time he may end up getting. I?ve been watching him for a while now especially during Peja?s absence and he?s actually not that bad. Playing alongside Webber he should feel a little more comfortable knowing that he has a friend coming along with him to this tough city. Barnes should provide this team with those little things that we sometime lack, so when I look back at this trade, it makes it an even bigger steal that we managed to get Barns as well. For those who think he?s a nobody, he will prove you wrong if he can get the time to play. And then we have Thomas, Williamson and Skinner. Out of these three guys I?m upset to see that we had to part away with Williamson. He was very, very good player off the bench. He brought championship experience to this ball club and it?s a downer that we had to see him go even for Webber. I?d rather we give up one of our younger guys instead of Williamson (preferably Salmons or Green). When we look at our bench, we lost a lot of production with Williamson out of the picture. Thomas on the other hand will be missed as well. He started off slow, but slowly emerged to be a big time player for us, but when you're talking about Webber here it was only fair, very fair that we had to give him up. Then we have Brian Skinner. He won?t be missed unlike Thomas and Williamson. He was the FA bust, that didn?t do anything but sit on the bench (even though it wasn?t his fault) he just didn?t fit in. So it's good to see that we got rid off a player who was of no use to us. So I?ll end this post, by saying congrats to King. He finally made some noise and gave us something huge. He will receive tremendous accolades for pulling this off. Good job Billy!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting TNG Impact:</div><div class="quote_post">WOW! I didn't believe anyone when i heard this. Sorta seems like what the knicks did with Marbury, gave up some pennies for him Are you serious??? Pennies include 2 first rounders, a young prospect projected in becoming Dirk, a huge expiring contract, another expiring contract, a great player overseas who was labeled by many as Europe's best guard at the time, tons of cap space which was intrumental in them signing Steve Nash, and Q, which is the only reason why the sit on top of the NBA with the 2nd best record and only 1 away from the first??? That doesn't sound like pennies to me! As for the Webber trade, it looks good on paper, but will Webber adjust and gel in time for the Sixers to make a run at the playoffs? Webber isn't used to Iverson's play or the Sixers for that matter. Sure it looks good, but the Sixers might end up kicking themselves if A) Webber goes down for a while and Philadelphia has to pay him all that money He just doesn't fit in like Glenn Robinson. This trade can end up putting the Sixers officially on the map with the NBA's finest, or it can end up a true bust. I think it'll make them a pretty good team, but not as good as many people expect.

The sixers are now a contender. Thankyou Billy King we as sixers fans salute you!!! This team should now flourish with unslefish passing, open shots and great chemistry. And we got rid of Glenn Robinson to New Orleans for Jamal Mashburn (who will retire next season) and Rodney Rogers. Good to finally see Billy King pull the trigger on some big time moves and props for not losing our young up and comers to do so. See you in the PLAYOFFS!!!
