Well with CWebb gone I was wondering what your thoughts on the Kings playoff chances and positioning are? Assuming the roster remains the same until the end of the regular season, I imagine they will make the playoffs, but not in a particularly great spot. Somewhere 6-8. That is assuming Pedja gets healthy and remains healthy the rest of the way. However I do not see them going very deep into th playoffs. Hardly even out of the second round. What do you all think?

I have a feeling that it will be somewhere between 5-7 which wont be too bad.
I wouldnt want to land 6-8 by any stretch this year as that would be a sure matchup with either SA the Suns or Sonics (of the three Id rather face the Suns) but the 5th spot would be a perfect situation to be in this year for the Kings in the playoffs.

Id say finishing 5th sounds most reasonable.Dallas is a couple games ahead at 4th and theyd be tough to catch considering the new acquisitions will need to get familiar with the Kings.I also dont think Houston will sustain their current level of play and I dont think they can out do Sacramento in these last 30 games or so.

Its gonna be hard for the Kings now. Im not saying they wont make it but its gonna be hard and it will take the whole team of making the 5th spot count. Webber was a huge part of the Kings game. Thats also a big gap to fill now that he is gone.

The thing about the Kings is, they aren't really foucused on the playoffs (as an organiztation at least). Sacto knows that they aren't going to win it this year and thats why they are begining to reshape their team. Never the less I still see them taking a playoff spot somewhere between 5-7 because they are still a solid team. But for this to occur they will need big play from their new foucus of players Peja, Mobley, Bibby, and Brad Miller.

first, you are right about not being focused on the playoffs, but not right for the correct reasons. Sacramento under Adleman has never focused on the playoffs untill about the week before the playoffs start & even then its only to make sure that they are not going to miss the playoffs. This is something that may be unique to the Kings, but I really doubt that. Want to know why the 4 game skid is the first time in over 5 years that they have lost more than 3 games in a row? Because Adleman always has the team focused on what is going on right now, not what is happening in a month or two from now.

second, the reason they are rebuilding now instead of waiting untill the off season is because the Kings were able to unload Webbers contract right now and get three more marketable players in return making it a lot easer to make moves in the upcoming off season.

third, anyone who has watched this team for more than just one or two games this year has to admit, even without Webber, they have the talent in place to win a championship this year. But its not a question of talent, its a question of defense. No one knows the answewr to this part and wont untill we see a few games with the new lineup. The fact that this team immediately improves defensively with the absence of Webber is a given. The question that has to be answered in the next say six to ten games is can they improve enough defensivly to make it far into the playoffs? Like I said, we wont know this untill six to ten games down the road.
