Wow, what a gutsy move. I hope Speedy can help the Hornets out. Poor Dan Dickau is going to have to find a way to get more minutes, again.

If Davis can get his body back together, the Warriors are going to be great to watch. Man, I'm ecstatic.

I'm stoked. The Warriors should take no chances with Davis's health this year, get things set for next year.

Good luck to Speedy. I liked him too, but you cant pass this up. I would have rather it been Fisher, but oh well. Good luck Speedy...

I am shocked, not that the fact that Golden State got Davis, but the fact that the Hornets couldn't get something better for him. With all respect to Speedy who is a great player but Baron is an all-star callibar point guard with some mad skills. Great move by Golden State, JRich and Davis both in the backcourt. [IMG]

All we need now is to find a more reliable big man or defensive oriented forward (or somehow shape our current guys into those roles). Just having B.Davis gives the W's a good measure of respectability, though.

Oh great! I have Dickau on my fantasy team. I was really hoping for Davis to get trade so he would get playing time.

I decided to take a nap right after the trade deadline ended. I was kind of disappointed. Then I just woke and found at that the warriors did do the trade. I'm not totally sold on Davis's injuries, but about time this franchise took a risk, although they didn't give up much except for caproom.

i thought Steven A. called this one?? and also, i dont think Dunleavy will be resigned now, we just dont have money for him. i would still rather have Arenas over Davis though, even when healthy

Maybe I'm confused, I thought Steven A. Smith was the guy that was saying that Baron Davis was probably not going anywhere.

The Warriors have "Bird" rights to Dunleavy so they can sign him for any $$$ even if they are over the salary cap.

This is sweet, finally some dynamic blood into the franchise. While he's got some physical problems, he's only 25 and is motivated to play well by coming back to California.

The Warriors acquired the two-time All Star guard from New Orleans.
    (NBAE/Getty Images)
The Golden State Warriors have acquired two-time All-Star point guard Baron Davis from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for point guard Speedy Claxton and center Dale Davis, it was announced today by Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin.

?We're thrilled to be able to acquire a proven all-star like Baron Davis,? said Mullin. ?He ranks among the best point guards in the NBA and we feel that he will be a tremendous addition to our roster ? not only with what he brings to the table on his own, but also what he can provide to the continued development of our team.?

Baron Davis, 25, earned All-NBA Third Team honors in 2003-04 as he ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring (career-high 22.9 ppg), fourth in assists (7.5 apg) and first in steals (career-high 2.36 spg) to become just the third player since the 1976-77 season to finish in the top-10 in those three categories (joining Gary Payton and Michael Adams). Last season he was also a member of the Eastern Conference All-Star team, an honor he received in 2001-02, as well, en route to averaging 18.1 points and a career-high 8.5 assists per game that season. For his career, Davis has appeared in 381 regular-season games in six seasons with the Hornets, averaging 15.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.89 steals per contest. Over the last three-plus seasons (since the beginning of the 2001-02 campaign), the Los Angeles native has averaged 19.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.6 assists and 2.08 steals in 217 games.

Stay tuned for audio with the media, exclusive interviews and much more.
This season, the 6-3 guard has appeared in 18 games, averaging 18.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.72 steals in 32.9 minutes per contest. He has also missed 34 games this season due to injury. Originally drafted by the then-Charlotte Hornets with the third overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft out of UCLA, Davis has also appeared in 35 playoff games, averaging 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest.</div>

We raped New Orleans, however, I will miss Speedy to death. On top of that we got Rodney White and Skita for Najera!
