    Happy or disappointed?

weisbrod stated that he would only go for draft picks and not bodies, but what we offered didnt seem enough to any other team for that.

I dont think its overly a case of unwanted players (except DeClerq!!). Deshawn has shown in his period that he is a decent player off the bench for 10mins, and Brandon showed a bit of potential aswell, come the summer they both may well show a decent bit of improvement that might be worth either keeping OR getting a better deal. So I aint overly fussed about that.

Stacy who was also mentioned I think could be a useful hand come playoff crunch time (the final games, which it looks like it will come down to for us) and should we make the playoff's, the actual post-season. After that I can see a retirement or just letting him go.

    ---

So whats people's reactions thoughts, as above I think that we stand a better chance of trades come summer. I think we will see Deshawn and Brandon as trade bait, and maybe even a bid to get Mobley back (sac seem unhappy with him).

I think come summer we will also want a new SG, a more fresh young one, but thats just me.

Could we see another summer blockbuster - I feel that if we wanted Francis out we would have honestly dished him out this trade deadline.

I'm not too disappointed. I heard some Nene and Dre Miller for Francis rumors that I wouldn't have minded a trade like that to occur. Francis is one of my favorite players, but in order for us to win, he has to hold on to the ball and Andre Miller has a way better shot at holding onto the ball and playing better defense. I really like Nene, him and Dwight together would have been amazing for the future, IMO.

The main thing that we need to address though before we move the players around is our coaching situation. Johnny Davis really needs to go.

I think we are just letting everyone stay with us for the year, see how our playoff chances are and then depending on whether or not we do good in the playoffs(or miss the playoffs) then we will make moves.

I actually was talking about this with a friend. Jameer I think in 2 games as starting point guard has shown that he really could have done this earlier. 13pts 7assists and 8 rebounds to boot in the 2 games is awsome, especially for a player his size. With stevie at SG it means that the ball WONT be turnover so much, but with all the benefits of Francis's explosive nature, just jameer lets him lose rather than stevie playing off the drible.

Also means that more ball will be played to hill, hedo and the forwards, and stevie wont have complete option over where the ball goes every play.

    Jameer and Stevie, Great backcourt!

I think they have the potential to be a great backcourt, but so far the experiment is 0-2 with both losses against a Shaqless Heat. Francis looks lost out there. It seems like now whenever he gets the ball he wants to shoot(since it's not as much), he's not even really looking to pass anymore. Grant Hill is the person keeping us close in these games. He's been amazing. He needs some help though. Jameer has provided a little help but he needs Francis to shoot at like 45% at least for us to have a chance to win the ball game. Francis needs to cut down on his stupid shot selection shots.

Last night Francis did pick up some decent numbers (22pts), but it looks like Hill can get more service with Jameer at the point.

I think the sticking point in the loss is 2 factors offense wise - Firstly - DC and Hedo. They once again need some resorting of minutes, so that hedo stays with 20-25 mins and DC about 20 aswell (Which means more than likely no game time for Deshawn, with Hedo rotating the SG and SF position, Jameer PG only, Stevie SG and PG, DC going PG and SG aswell and Hill keeping with SF only).

The other point is that our forwards just havent clicked since the restart, Dwight seems not as involved and Cato and Battie not firing aswell as they were in the first half. I think a good combo of the new style backcourt (stevie getting more settled in at 2, with some point movement still) and the fowards getting fired up again.

The changes have made 1 good thing, less turnovers, and I just have to reitterate that, since it was a major problem.

Last night wasnt so much the loss to a shaqless team, is was those 5th 1/4 three's being rained in from all angles, they hurt big time. The come back we did was awsome, but then just as we hit 4 or 5 pts off, those 3's just put it back to 8 or 9 again, which hurts.

My biggest complaint though, is why wait till now. 30ish games left, playoff place in the balance. Jameer to me should have been in at 1 the second that Mobley packed his locker up. Hedo did great but I think that PG a balance of stevie and jameer would have been so positive for us.

One thing is, it looks good for next season, but I just want to hit that playoff spot hard. We need it. Hill needs it and most of all the franchise need it.

On the trades - we have a great roster from 1 to 9 spot, with Augmon's role now questionable with DC a more capable player really, Hunter and Deshawn very limited. If we can bring in a good rookie, pref a decent SF or PF with defending capablities, and maybe a 6 or 7 year vet to help on both ends of the court in the front court, that will help, but a seasoned bench player, who knows that role.

Honestly, Doug Christie has been crap when I watched him play. (I haven't been able to get the road games at college, so I don't watch that many games) I would definetely rather have Stevenson get more time then Christie. Stevenson is still a good capable player when he gets some minutes. Give Christie 5-10 mins and Stevenson 10-15 mins and we would be much better, IMO.

I don't think we will get to the playoffs this year. We are playing really bad. Yes Francis got 22 points, but he didn't play very good at all. How many FT's did he make? What was his FG %? alot and low are my 2 answers. We need to somehow get something going for us to make the playoffs. For some reason, we have stopped going downlow to our bigs. Dwight had 3 dunks on 3 consecutive plays in Saturday's game and he barely got the ball after that on Saturday and on Sunday.

Changing the lineup will be a help once it all settles in i think. Jameer Nelson is really coming into his own with a little more playing time, and he seems to mesh well with Francis and Hill. The three of them together will make for an exciting second half of the season.

Jameer looks like a excellent PG, not just a decent player, in his rookie season he already looks like a similar player to a steve nash or something.
