Most would say New Orleans. Some would say Portland. But I say Minnesota. Minnesota has something the other two teams do not........ Potential. You tell me that a trade could make NO or Portland a contender. Because a trade with Minnesota could. They get my vote.
So in other words you are saying they were stupid for not making a move? I agree, I do think we needed change. I guess we have given up on the season.
Glen Taylor, Timberwolves owner, was not adding salary to the team so new guys were not going to come here. I am sure the Timberwolves wanted to trade Latrell Spreewell and Sam Cassell, but no one wanted them. David Aldridge pointed out that the Rockets had interested in Cassell, but they backed off in the last second. I gotta say the Knicks. He picked up MORE salary in the cap by going after Malik Rose and the useless Maurice Taylor. Was it necessary to get those two guys and add more salary? Those two are not going to help this team win the division, go to the playoffs, or go far. It wasn't necessary. Now you can make an argument that he got the draft picks from the Spurs. So what? Those draft picks could be low draft picks considering they are the Spurs picks and Spurs are likely going all the way in the next few years so the pick is a very low one. Unless Isiah finds a diamond in the rough from his trip to Europe when the Knicks were out in the West Coast, I am not sure how those picks will be useful. Spurs were more than happy to give their draft picks away. Isiah is not an astute drafter outside of drafting Stoudamire, McGrady, and Trevor Ariza. Scott Clark, who does the sportscast on WABC-TV in New York, even seemed befuddled by this trade when he talked about it Thursday night. The NY writers have ripped Isiah for this move.
I don't care, a real owner can get it done. We got Webber for Skinner, Nasty, and Kenny. Plus we got a young guy that put up 3+ in a high scoring team. I think that's how you hustle. Especially getting Two guys (J-Mash and Rogers) for one with a year on his contract.
sac Gimme an S. Gimme an acramento. What does that spell? Sacramento!! Trading Chris Webber getting virtually nothing in return and no even getting expiring contracts? STUPID
I'd have to say Minnesota for not making a move. That team is clearly not playing up to expectations this year and I really thought that they would trade off Spree to get some youth on the team. But, apparenly McHale thinks he can win with the team he continues to send out on the court. And I really don't think New Orleans made that bad of a move. It was clear that Baron did not want to be a Hornet anymore and they got some decent players out of it. Plus, it gives more opportunity for JR Smith, who in my opinion, is likely going to be the future of that organization. He's already shown how explosive he can be, so this trade can only help him out....as long as he stays in the starting rotation, which I don't see why he wouldn't.
I think this thread is premature. Some of those trades that look ridiculous can be part of a huge plan that end up giving their respective franchise years of greatnesses. Example: Marbury to NY. Suns made a nice deal freed up cap space, and now have the best record in the whole NBA. The Pistons made a controversial deal in tradeing Stackhouse for Rip Hamilton and look what happened. I think before we can talk about which team made the worst move, we should wait more (at least more than 5 days) to see how they turn out.
New Orleans? They made some of the best moves at the deadline, they got a young PG in Claxton, 2 cap space players in Dale Davis and GRob, and Golden State's future 1 rounder, they had a great deadline. New York will probably be my pick, until I see how their moves pan out down the road, I'll consider them bad because they didn't improve for now, and future wise, they didn't really improve either getting such low picks.
Lakers do nothing, will go nowhere. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting def#53:</div><div class="quote_post">Most would say New Orleans. Some would say Portland. But I say Minnesota. BD wanted to play in LA, LA needs another star to go with Kobe, and could have got him cheap. Ever since Buss'd up the team traded Shaq, this team has been a disaster and it keeps getting worse.
