I don't see it happening at all. For one thing, Charley Walters, sports gossip columinst for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, embellishes a lot of stuff. Second, why would Ainge want to leave a cushy position. He is doing a great job in building the Celtics and I think he wants to see this team that he built as a finished product
Talk about coming out of right field? I don't see Ainge stepping down from a GM position to come in and coach. Other than his relationship with McHale, this doesn't make much sense to me.
Walters is a character. This is the same guy that said Twins pitcher Brad Radke would go to the Red Sox or the Dodgers in the off-season. This is the same guy who went to say that Johan Santana would never sign a contract with the Twins. This is the same guy who said the Wild would be aggressive to sign bonafide NHL free agents in 2001. The more I read about him, the more I laugh when I read his stuff.
