<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI -- Alonzo Mourning and the Miami Heat finally are together again. Mourning signed a contract Tuesday and practiced with the team in Miami, where he spent eight seasons -- a stint twice interrupted by kidney disease. He's expected to make about $325,000 for the rest of the season, based on a prorated share of the $1.1 million minimum veteran contract. Mourning may be in uniform Thursday when Miami visits New Jersey. He averaged 10.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 18 games for the Nets earlier this season. Mourning To clear space for the seven-time All-Star, Miami waived forward Wesley Person, who had played only 27 minutes since Dec. 4 and was displeased with his diminished role. Miami (42-16) entered Tuesday five games ahead of Detroit in the Eastern Conference, and 9? games up on Washington in the Southeast Division. Miami hasn't been shy about tweaking its roster -- last week, another Heat alum, guard Steve Smith, was acquired from Charlotte. The Mourning deal has been long expected, but was delayed by negotiations with Person on a buyout. Mourning -- who has career averages of 19.8 points and 9.6 rebounds -- came to Miami in a trade with the Charlotte Hornets before the 1995-96 season. The Heat later signed him to a $105 million, seven-year deal.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2002503 Well if Philly or Cleavland doesn't beat Miami in the playoffs, then they should be solidified champions without even playing in the finals.
It's wonderful to see Zo back with the Heat. Alonzo is definatly going to help with Shaq' out with a knee injury. I can't wait for the two to play together. If this doesn't push Miami up to playing level of San Antonio, nothing will.
The Heat are looking pretty tough right now. I'd love to see them and the Spurs in the finals, but I don't think Miami is a lock for the NBA title.
It is nice to see Alonzo in Miami, but I'm still a little mad that he didn't report to the Raps. Anyways, good luck to him and hopefully he stays healthy so he can help the team.
Congrats to everyone in miami and all of their fans. The Heat are gonna be beasts in the middle. LOL Shaq and ZO in the middle together. MAn who got the heart to drive in for a layup?(not me) LOL. Good luck Heat and all of the Heat Fans I hope Shaq gets back soon. ONE(love).
sportsnet(a sports network)_ said zo said somethinga bout his "financial sacrifice", what did he say exactly?
Zo prolly took a paycut to be on a contending team, like karl malone did last year. hope he get the ring though
Zo and Shaq. That will be crazy. That may just give them the depth they need to really contend. I hope Zo can stay healthy, its amazing he is playing at all after what he has been through. Well done Zo and good luck. Miami will be tough now!!!
LOL! Mourning says he took a financial hit!! Was his buyout 3 Million or 9 Million? Alonzo Mourning: Yeah, I only got a 3+ Million dollar buyout. How the hell am I going to feed my family now? I'm going to join the Latrell Sprewell foundation.
Alonzo isn't complaining about taking a paycut... he has gotten a lot more money from the Heat organiation then he deserved imo. Especially with the league not giving the team compensation for him sitting out several seasons and burdening the team's cap space.
No offense..but F*** Zo. Way to ride Shaq and Wade's coattails for that championship ring. Truly well deserved. All this after he clearly robbed the Nets and Raptors for about 10 million. Financial hit my butt.

Kings of 01-02 Lakers of last year Lets at least wait untill the playoffs start before we start crowning champions. Last I checked there wasnt a championship for trades.
