The Philadelphia 76ers is the best name and the abbreviation to 'sixers' rocks also. I love the Kings (because the team i play in over here are the kings!!!). Cavaliers is a great name also, just sounds different and bold. The New Orleans Hornets name sucks now as do a few others. Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar heels are awesome names too!!!

What is a Laker? The team name "Laker" was named when the franchise was in Minneapolis, Minnesota many decades ago. The word "Laker" was a representation of 10,000 Lakes from Minnesota. Los Angeles decided to use the Lakers name when they moved from Minnesota. When Minnesota got an expansion franchise in 1989, Minnesota wanted to take the Lakers name back, but Jerry Buss declined to give it to that franchise so they settle with the Timberwolves name. It's a great name hence why I think the Timberwolves have the best name of all basketball teams.
