You have to like Miami's chances at the title this year. Any team with Shaq has a legit shot at the title. However, I still think the Pistons are the team to beat in the East. They have the formula to stop Shaq, and their team is actually deeper this year with the additions of McDyess and Arroyo. The Pistons are one of the few teams who can guard Shaq one on one because they rotate well on defense and recover to contest open shooters. The Larry Brown dynamic will be interesting in the playoffs. If he team senses he won't be back they will either give up playing for him, or try to help him leave in style. The Pistons are also not as hungry as last year, but they have kicked it up a notch since the All-Star break. They did lose back to back to Phoenix and Seattle, but those were road games on consecutive nights against two of the top teams. They had a chance to win the Phoenix game, and they were obviously flat in the Seattle game. The Heat will benefit from having homecourt advantage and they are also a great road team. I just think Larry Brown can out coach Van Gundy in a 7 game series and the Pistons have the defensive players to shutdown Shaq or Wade. The key player in the series will be Eddie Jones for the Heat. He's had his post-season woes, but he's going to be the player the Pistons will likely leave open to beat them. If he can be consistent and knock down the shots, the Heat will have a great chance to get past the Pistons. It should be a great series though and whoever wins the series definitely has a chance to win the title.
I do think that the Heat have a good shot at winning the east and making it through to the NBA Finals. I think they play a great team basketball game, they have players who love pressure and the big stage and the big shots. They play for each other and they play hard basketball. You cannot write them off. There are some really good teams like the Pistons, the Spurs, the Sonics and the Suns and Miami on their day could mix it with them in a seven game series.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post"> Everytime I see you post, you are mentioning Kobe...do you love the sound of his name or something? Get off of his case, how is he selfish. He is averaging near 7 assists a game, should be near 9 assists a game if his teammates actually hit the OPEN shots he creates for them. He is only averaging about 2 more shots per game from last year, no where near greedy. </div> He is mentioning Kobe because as he said Wade is very different than Kobe and the guy above him said if Shaq and Kobe can't do it Shaq and Wade can't do it. Also he's talking about last year buddy, not this year. Maybe if you read what he said you would understand. Kobe shot what 35% in that championship series while Shaq shot 60%. Big difference if you ask me. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post"> Alonzo Mourning is not that much of a defensive presence anymore, you will be lucky to get 15 good minutes out of him. His kidney ailment really messed him up, he is no where near the player he once was on defense. Also, what the hell are you smoking to call Christian Laettner a center? He lurks out on the perimeter waiting for J's, that is not a true center. </div> Alonso Mournig still is a decent defensive presence on the floor. He may not be as good as he was, but he's better than more than half of the NBA's centers on defense. Actually Christian Laetner does play Center also. If you actually watch Heat games rather than assume you'd see it. When Shaq was injured he was playing center a lot when Doleac was in foul trouble. Of course his natural position is the 4. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">And what do the Heat have to answer for Duncan, Tony Parker, Brent Barry, Bruce Bowen (one of the best defenders in the game, he can get into anybody's head), Nazr, and Manu...Shaq and Wade...that is not an even matchup. </div> Udonis Haslem is a player who you may not really know much about. This guy is a GREAT rebounder and agreesive, can shoot the jump shot and takes it to the hole. He is close to averagin a double double. Also if Brent Barry is mentioned why isn't Eddie Jones or DAmon Jones? They are just as if not more important to the Heats success than Barry is to the Spurs. Bruce Bowen also isn't a defender who really gets in your head. THat is more of what Karl Malone did on the Lakers. Bruce Bowen is a guy who will frustrate you. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">It is a very safe bet to bet against the Heat, it only takes one major injury to Shaq or Wade and their chances at getting that championship go right out the window. </div> I could say that The Spurs are one Tim Duncan ankle sprain away from going anywhere in the playoffs too if I wanted too, but I'm not. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">And another factor...they do not matchup at all to the Spurs. Duncan, Nazr, Manu, Parker, Bowen, and Brent Barry is way too much fire power and too big of a defensive presence for Shaq and Wade. </div> Nazr Mohammad, Brent Barry too much defenseive presence for Shaq? No one on that Spurs team can defend Shaq except Tim Duncan, but he is naturally a 4 and will do better there. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post"> Tony Parker > Damon Jones Manu Ginobili < Dwyane Wade - (slight advantage for the Heat here...you might not admit it, but with Duncan, Manu is on Wade's level because he can work his way open for a shot, he can drive, he never quits moving...) Bruce Bowen > Eddie Jones - Bruce would be all over EJ here, EJ wouldn't have an open shot all series. Tim Duncan >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Udonis Haslem - No question here. Nazr or Rasho <<<<<<<<<< Shaq - But Duncan is a bigger difference than Shaq IMO..</div> Tony Parker and Damon Jones- Tony is a better play maker, but Damon Jones was made for the Heat offense. Either Wadwe or Shaq will be doubled and if Wade is doubled then Damon Jones is the likely guy to be open. Of course though I will give the nod to Parker as you did. Manu Ginobili and Dwyane Wade- Dwyane Wade definetly has the advantage over MAnu. IF this is even questionable at all your on drugs. Really. Eddie Jones- Bruce Bowen : Sure Bruce Bowen will stop Eddie Jones, but Eddie Jones will also shut him down. Eddie is very underrated on defense also. If Bowen goes to Wade expect Eddie Jones to hit some shots. Tim Duncan - Udonis Haslem : Of course this is going to go Duncans way, but not as much as you say. Udonis is almost averagain a double double and is having a break out year and IMO one of the Most Improved Players. Shaq - Rasho : If you noticed Nazr hasn't been playing at all lately and isnt' starting. They still go with Rasho. Shaq will dominate this biotch.

The difference between the Spurs and Heat, is the Heat will have to double team Duncan, but the Spurs can play man defense all game long against the Heat. If it comes down to these two teams, the Heat have to win from the perimeter, and I'm not sure they can pull that off in a 7 game series.
i think they can do it! check it out they got the #1#2#3 picks from the Draft in 92 that being shaq,zo, and that tall white guy<--lmao. anyways seriously they have one of the better frontcourts in the league cuz of udonis, the man is a double double machine and if he were here in Canada, the fans would be going nuts(joke for canadians) I think they got it, with flash, and diesel.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I could say that The Spurs are one Tim Duncan ankle sprain away from going anywhere in the playoffs too if I wanted too, but I'm not.</div> I could also say that for Shaq... I am no way saying the Heat are a bad team i just dont think they will go all the way this year. Pistons and Spurs would PROBABLY beat the Heat. I hate when some of you fans are like "We DEFINATELY will win the championship this year". There also are such things as upsets.

Even without Shaq or Wade(meaning without one of them) I think the Heat can beat 4th seeded Wizards and advance to Finals if the playoffs seed stay the same). They need him in the Conference Finals and Finals. Also about your little thing about us Heat fans. I never in my post said we were going to win the championship. Ace, i wasnt commenting on you i was commenting on the Heat fans who say things like... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In today's age of teams struggling to put together solid teams considering the salary cap, the HEAT is as good a team as you will find. With that said: The MIAMI HEAT WILL WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP THIS YEAR. Shaq has been pacing himself during the season & he will explode in the playoffs. The Heat have all the pieces they need to do it this year. </div> I dont mind a good debate with some heat fans Personally i think the Heat are a great team. It will probably be them or the Pistons in the Championship game but it could be another team like the Magic. The magic are the only team other then the Pistons and Heat IMO who have a chance to get to the finals. Pistons have the biggest barely then the heat and the magic have a SMALL chance but doubtful. One thing that pisses me off about the Heat is that almost all of their fans are band-wagoners who just follow teams because they are good. I hate that. That is the only reason i want the Heat to do bad in the playoffs is to prove those people wrong. Good luck to your heat in the playoffs

I think the Cavaliers could easily beat the Magic and the Wizards (yes, you beat us twice in a row...but we didn't have Kwame Brown with us, who is finally seeing action) could push them to a good series.
