Raptors rookie Pape Sow has missed the last 33 games because of left knee tendinitis.

And if you buy that ...

The real reason Sow has not played is that there is no room for him on the active roster and the Raptors don't want to lose him by letting him play in Europe or somewhere else.

The organization believes that the former Cal State Fullerton star has a bright future in the NBA, as a rebounder and player with loads of energy, but he just isn't quite ready yet. So Sow travels with the club and practices everyday. He just doesn't play.

Head coach Sam Mitchell was asked this week if he feels sorry for his rookie forward.

"I'm supposed to stand here and feel sorry for someone making $365,000? To play basketball? To stay in shape, stay mentally read and physically ready to play?" Mitchell said, incredulously. "Is it hard (not playing)? Yes it is hard. We understand that. But we're compensating you for that.

Thanks for the link. I guess Mitchels right about the O'neal part. Good thing they're planning to keep him, cause I really want to see him play.

He's been activated, and Eric WIlliams is placed in the injured list. Lets hope he'll get some minutes tonight against Memphis. Everyone says he can play, but I have yet to see him.

I'm not sure if I'd say Pape can "play", but he's got athletic ability, and some skills, but still needs development.

Pape Sow is one of my favorite players that I saw when they were in college. I dont remember exactly what month it was before last years draft I saw a televised game on ESPN if i'm not mistaken and he just blew me away. Sow had a good game this year a while back if I remember correctly something along the lines of 9 points and a good deal of boards. Hopefully Sow gets more playing time.

pape sow does have a little ben wallace in him but so does every end of the bench sitting, second round, non guranteed earning contract dude in the nba. i hope he does well, i like the kid and i wonder sometimes why its took until the 47th pick to choose him, he's a lot better than some great white hype from siberia.

The one thing I like about Pape Sow is that every time I see him play, I see him giving 100% every time. Either playing defence or boxing out, this kid hustles and tries to make the most out of every second out there on the court.

I just hope he works hard in the offseason because that is the only way he can get better. You can only do so much on athetic ability because this kid is still very raw.

When I saw him on the court, in either the new orleans or memphis game. In the 4th quarter, he seemed to just wander in the offense. I really don't know what to think about him yet. Didn't seem he was trying super hard. Maybe I'm wrong.

To his credit, he is about the only raptor that doesn't complain about minutes. Which he gots none...

^On offense it is another story. He pretty much doesn't know what the hell he is doing on that end at all. But in terms of defence and rebouding, I see the effort.

^ Agreed, so far he's been pretty impressive on defense. Not only does he box out, rebound, and bring energy, but it also looks like he can seal his man off pretty well.

He could turn out to be very good but on the other hand, he could also turn out to be Jerome Moiso part II. I guess we would never know unless we give him some more playing time..... and I'm okay with reducing Marshall's minutes in order for Pape to gain some experience.
