The problem with going after a FA right now is that we're so severly over the cap in the next couple of years, we might not even be able to re-sign some impact rookies that may be even better with more scoring. Take Biedrins or Pietrus for instance. I've got a feeling that either of those two could be legit stars. Pietrus freakin' moves like Kobe and Biedrins kind of reminds me of a more athletic Jeff Foster that could develop into Jermaine O'neil once strong enough. Keep in mind he's not going to utilize his offensive game because he knows he simply outmatched against a post defender. But he's got pretty good touch near the basket, already has a drop step move, and invites contact. These guys are winners and will be impact players eventually. But don't hold me to that [IMG] Chandler is still young and could develop an offensive game, but I think he's too much like what Biedrins would offer us in the near future, don't you think? Both are active tall 7'1 guys that can swat and rebound and dunk.

Biedrens lists as 6-11,and there's something to be said for making the best of what we have. Signing Chandler would appeal to me more than, say,Dalembert who will never be a big offensive assett,or swift who is a 6-9 F who sometimes looks super and other times is a waste. Unless someone significant leaves-Fisher,Foyle,Dunleavy,I don't know if the W's would look to add an FA,but the point of that $5 mil trade exempt was to add a guy later. Mullin remembers when we had C's like Felton Spencer,Victor Alexander,Todd Fuller-and I figure he'd really like to be deep at the big spots

Sure the Bulls will hope to keep Chandler + Curry without having anyone bid up the price beyond good sense, but its the NBA,odds are someone will bid him up beyond the budgets of the Bulls and Warriors-and then whine about $12 mil a year for a guy averaging 10 pt. The W's,The Bulls, or ????,may get lucky, get a good package. Someone could also hook up a huge contract and then see the player go Shawn Kemp/Vin Baker once the $ is in the bank

The Bulls wanted Troy Murphy at one point (before he was extended) to provide rebounding and shooting for Eddy Curry down low. But I don't think Mullin was interested in Tyson Chandler for him if it meant giving up Pietrus and cause our scoring to go down. But you never know what Mullin will do. Chandler can give you rebounds, blocks and put the ball in the hands of guys like Dunleavy more. But he'll probably never be sound offensively. He's got no trouch and he can't put the ball on the floor.

I heard this rumor on hoopshype but I don't have the article.

I would'nt give Murphy and Pietrus for Chandler. It's ironic,in high school Chandler was a big scorer with some range and the concern was whether he had the toughness and desire to rebound and play D....which he now does, except he appears to have forgot a lot of his offense. The fact is the W's may find no Center available, free agent or trade, who is even as good as what we have. Maybe we can only hope the foreign legion continues to improve

While we have Foyle, Chandler doesn't exactly fill a lot of holes. He would be an interesting forward substitute for Murphy, but is he really worth Pietrus also? And does Pietrus even have a spot on the Bull's roster that is already ladened with young guards?

I guess that's probably why Mullin didn't pull off the trade. Plus Murphy wanted to be in a Warriors uniform and Pietrus was there in case Richardson didn't re-sign. And then Mullin is also aware of Pietrus potential to be a game changer. The Bulls roster doesn't really have any 6'6" two guards. They're playing Hinrich at the 2, Ben Gordon and Adrian Griffin as his backups. They would like Hinrich to play the 1, Ben Gordon to backup either spot, with the option to put Pietrus at 2 different positions. Again it was only a rumor I saw. It supposedly was a trade scenario discussed. Pike also plays some 2.
