<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Same question, different night. When, where and how would Stan Van Gundy find some more time for Alonzo Mourning, the former face of the franchise? The Heat coach, on the edge of exasperation, explained again that it wasn't so simple, that Shaquille O'Neal needed his regular run, and that Michael Doleac and Christian Laettner had proven deserving of their time, and that ... "Udonis is going to play his 36 minutes," Van Gundy said. Anyone care to question that anymore? Anyone recognize how remarkable it is that you can't? Anyone remember back to the 2002 draft, when 58 players were picked, and the University of Florida's Udonis Haslem was not among them?</div> Source
Haslem is great role player for the Heat. He is an aggressive rebounder and above average on offense. It is great to see him succeed in this league.

Haslem has been fantastic for the Heat. I am a bit concerned that the Heat might not be able to resign him, considering the kind of money that gets thrown around in the NBA today. Udonis is a Hustler on both ends of the floor & he is very comfortable taking and making the mid range jumper. Hopefully he gives the Heat a hometown discount when it comes time to resign him. Is he a free agent after this season or the following?

He has said he's willing to take less to stay in Miami and doesn't want to be 'the man' some where else. Of course when a team throws ridiculous money at a player it's hard to turn that down.

Your right, that is exactly what the Lakers need, I would love to take him away from the Heat...
I did read somewhere that Haslem believes that he is as good as Martin and Boozer. That being said, he went to HS down here, and Miami took a chance on him when no one else would. So I believe he will stay here when its all said and done. But if he leaves, I wouldnt mind signing Stromile Swift. As far as his game, I believe his game is helped more with the presence of Shaq than anyone else on this team. He gets most of his pts from deep in the paint, off rebounds, or from open jumpers. But I dont see him create a lot of pts on his own. He doesnt have a variety of moves and fakes, he just beats you with his heart and hustle.
Haslem will get alot of interest around the league and many teams will throw all of their MLE at him. Guys that play with energy, go after loose balls, pick up the garbage and rebound the basketball are very important in this league. Haslem seems like a loyal guy though and doesn't apppear to have any ego and I would expect he would rather win and play with guys like Wade than leave. The Heat won't be able to offer anymore than their MLE to him but for him that would be alot of money for a guy who was never drafted. Only the Heat took a chance on him, he will feel he should reward them for that.
I hope so too If i was a coach, i would love to have him out there. Great player with a great attitude. Hopefully he will turn into the player that he says he can be. I have my trust in him

Haslem is finally getting the recognition he deserves and I expect him to get a pretty massive contract.
