We all know everyone hates Duke and some may hate UNC. I have to ask this question. How come fans don't have any hatred for UConn? I hated UConn since the early 90s when they were starting to be good. I never cared much for their players. I never liked guys like Ray Allen, Caron Butler, Emeka Okafor, Ben Gordon, the Marshall boys, Cliff Robinson, and etc. I always thought those guys were punks and they were arrogant to my liking. I never liked that foul-mouth coach Jim Calhoun. Calhoun is a great coach, but he is a jerk and a whiner. I really don't have any respect for him as a person. Don't get me started with UConn fans. They are the most meanest people I ever encountered. They are trouble makers. I know little kids who behave better than them. They are very rude and boorish. They are angry human beings. They seem to be bitter. I hate them with a passion. You don't want to know what I think about the women's team and their idiotic coach, Geno Auriemma, who I think is the most despised coach in the history of sports. I always wondered why there is no hatred for UConn. Am I off-base? Am I only the only one that hates UConn?
They're not in the ACC. That's one reason. And because they're not in the ACC, we don't have to listen to them being constantly fellated by the media. That's another reason.
I think UConn is quickly becoming the gold standard in men's basketball. If UConn can start forming a dynasty and they eventually will, you will see UConn get some media attention and hopefully fans will get tired of UConn. I know I am tired of UConn and I hate their obnoxious, boorish fans.
because people dont hate them because they are just a normal basketball program that built istelf up unlike duke that is always composed of smart, talanted players or UNC that is always extremely talanted....they are just a good team
You must live in Connecticut or at least New England to think that they're becoming the gold standard in men's basketball, because they're far from it. Their team with Ben Gordon and Emeka Okafor was a great team, but I think that this team is not even good enough to be ranked in the top 20. They're very overrated by ESPN. I can't believe that ESPN considers Michigan State a #4 seed even if they win the Big 10 tournament beating Illinois along the way, but yet they consider UConn a lock for the #2 or #3 at worst even if they lose tomorrow.

Since the NCAA went to the 64 team format 20 years ago UConn is an impressive 34-10 the second best tournament record in college hoops (behind duke). Their average seed is 3.58 fifth best in college hoops. 8 Big East regular season championships under Jim Calhou (19 years with UConn) says the same stuff.

Good points JWohl, and Voodoo, I can't decide which one of you made the best points. I think they are ranked at a good spot, they are just getting better at the best time. They haven't lost since February 13th against UNC, that's seven straight wins. They are also 13-3 in Big East play making them a tie for first place. They are 4-3 against ranked opponents which is actually a down year for them. They have one of the best front courts in Charlie Villanueva, Rudy Gay, and Josh Boone. They did most of this without their leading scorer Rashad Anderson. Senior floor general Marcus Williams is averaging nine points, eight assists, and shooting .450 from beyond the arc. Josh Boone is averaging 3 blocks a game tops in the Big East. This is a very good team.

I don't like anything about UConn from their idiotic inbreds err fans to the players to the jagoff of a coach in Calhoun.

Last year was painful and this year would be worse.
Think about this? You have to have a 25 ranking poll...Michigan State is in it cuz they win...who would you rather be #4, no matter who it is, u would complain. UConn is the ONLY program in my eyes that hasnt been in trouble with money scandals or fights etc. They are a classy team and Calhoun talks because he has senority over coaches. Just like Coach K, Boeheim, and Chaney (who I doubt will still have respect). For you to try and trash UConn and fans is just a sad sight. NEWS FLASH (THAT MEANS READ THIS!) ALL FANS EVERYWHERE ARE RUDE...DUKE, UNC, UCONN, VA TECH...ANY TEAM THAT HAS FANS IS GOIN TO HAVE RUDE FANS...WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN....this is basketball...i didnt know you had to hate a team cuz their fans are idiots...name one foul thing a UConn player has done all season...Duke causes fights, McCants is an idiot, and Paul is a numbskull for what he did to Hodge(thats why Hodge is going to beat Wake tonight). Its just dumb for you to even make a topic like this because not one school has fans that smile at the opponent, congratulate the refs when they call an offensive on them, and rush the court when they lose....Welcome to Reality!

As already pointed out before, it is because they are A)not in the ACC, and a classy team. They don't fight, they don't try to look ghetto. They just ball. Also pointed out that they have won two championship titles in the past five years, they win, and do what a great basketball team does. The only reason I don't think they will be the "gold standard" of basketball is because of how often you see them on ESPN. Not very.. They deserve respect, but people have to hate on somebody.
