Rerem, I Swear, You Must Get A Serious Hard On For Defense And Rebounding. Dennis Rodman And Ben Wallace Must Turn You On! And, Of Course, No Hard Feelings, I Just Like Jazzin You Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
over many years I have seen a lot of guys get overrated as players-when what they are,are shooters, scorers,or even just raw natural athletes. A few years later, everyone gets down on the guy-"he's soft" or "he's a gunner" or he's 3 happy, avoids the dirty work,is a liability on D-etc...and I just find it amusing as that was always the case. Now,a guy with not even CBA prospects can box out, hustle, make an effort to defend,it's not like I'd expect 6 blocked shots and a dozen steals, I just have a problem if a guy is a liability on D-though he has the physical gifts. Rebounding is a test of will as much as a by product of size-leaping ability-quickness,so Ben Wallace gets more boards than Eddy Curry, who is a bit bigger. Barkley, about 6-5,was a very good rebounder. Because it is a test of will,it can be a clue that that player will make the extra effort in other ways, maybe he works harder in the offseason to be in shape,to add to his skills. Maybe he plays hard when tired or hurt, maybe he gives that extra effort on D. A guy who has little scoring ability will often have little luck getting noticed as a prospect unless his other skills are really special, and yet, with the best talent so often leaving early, there's quite a few "elite" prospects who basically have a bunch of highlight clips, but really have yet to have one great game.. .maybe I'm too old-school,I remember Oscar Robertson averaging about 33pt for a 3 yr college career, and now there's a big deal over some 19 yr old averaging 6pt in albania or wherever
B Wallace-yes,Rodman-no. Rodman once played a good allroound game but got to where he was so obsessed with getting his rebound stats he did nothing else-except act the clown. Wallace wasn't a rd 1 pick but lead his team to a title over a Laker team that seemed so loaded with talent nobody should have beat them. Another player I appreciate is Shawn Marion, who was supposed to be borderline size even for sf,but became a great all-around player
I think he should probably see if he is a lottery pick. If he is he should go but if he isnt then he should stay another year at UConn and see if he could raise his stock. And as for what ReRem said I respect The Matrix (Shawn MArion) too because this is a guy who is only 6'7 and averages more rebounds per game than Shaq! Thats amazing! It is sort of pitiful for Shaq to not be leading the league in rebounds but I think he should at least average 11. If CV becomes a better rebounder and becomes better at defense I think he could be good in the NBA. He also need to work on his offense a little bit but not as much as his defense. He has great intensity though and can get his team fired up.

Rudy is a top 10 pick IMO. If he stays one more year by next year he will be a top three pick. HE has so many good attributes! He is athletic, a great defender, a good leader, and can score in bunches. I hope he stays one more year.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">right now he is top 5 easy</div> no. He's just where SL said, top 10. Next year, if he improves at a steady pace i like him at #1.
Yeah, he's too raw right now. Right now top 10, but based mostly on pure potential and the fact that this year's draft class is down in the drains. He'll refine his skills to fill out the rest of his body to become a second coming of Scottie Pippen speaking in terms of all-round skills. It's going to be great to watch him and Marvin Williams (go UNC!), assuming he doesn't enter this year, battle it out in college.
I saw Gerald Green tonight on the tube,McDonalds game and dunk contest. If Rudy Gay and Marvin Williams are top 5 on what they potentially will become, then there isn't much limit to Green. Anyone who can get top 10 $ probably ought to grab it. They can pay tuition They can commit to really learning to play the game. It's just that sadly,a lot of them are so young they blow the money and they figure they got there with some flash and scoring and they don't reach their potential, but that just makes room for those who do pay their dues. Lets hope they all give us some good hoops
