Cuban has ordered his players, coaches and public relations staff not to accommodate Gray with any interview requests. The Mavs owner also wants ABC to suspend Gray -- or for Gray to apologize to the team -- for trying to create controversy between the team and former Mavs point guard Steve Nash, who plays for the Phoenix Suns. The Mavericks owner said Gray "ambushed" forward Dirk Nowitzki during a live interview Sunday in Houston while the Mavs were playing the Rockets on ABC. Cuban said Gray, who interviewed Michael Finley and Cuban during the Mavs-Lakers game Friday in Los Angeles, told Nowitzki that Finley and the owner said the team chemistry was better without Nash. Cuban said Gray twisted his comments and those made by Finley and, in the process, "set up" Nowitzki to make an inflammatory comment about Nash, who is one of his best friends. "I just think it's wrong when somebody creates news," Cuban said Wednesday. He just asked if team chemistry was better. I thought Jim Gray was a solid reporter (if thats what you call him) but this was ridiculous.? Obviously I trust Adam to report accurately more than I trust Jim Gray. What Gray did is pretty much the definition of slime reporting. I will talk to Dirk about it, but for a reporter or whatever he calls himself to misrepresent an interviewee?s comments in order to elicit an emotional or controversial response is wrong. ABC Sports should take immediate action against Jim Gray and suspend him from working until he apologizes to Dirk and Mavs fans. </div> Source
