As of a few minutes ago it is official the number 1 seeds are Illinois, North Carolina, Duke and Washington. Does anybody disagree with these #1 seeds? I dont think wash. deserves it but can't think of anyone who does over them. And North Carolina is number 1 overall. How can they lose in the semifinal of the ACC tournament and get the number 1 overall over illinois? article
I don't think Duke deserved one. I felt Wake Forest had a better case, finishing two games above them in the ACC regular season. When Wake lost in the conference tournament, they were without Chris Paul. And when Duke won in the conference tournament, they did not have to play Wake or UNC. When they announced Washington, I was pretty shocked but I don't think it's too bad a deicision. I did see, though, that they lost games to Arizona, UCLA and Stanford, all the good teams from the Pac-10. It tells me they're not really leaps and bounds above the rest of their league, if they lose to every one of the prime contenders.
I'm not a College Basketball junkie...But I think Wake Forest deserved it over Duke. And WTF? Washington?
Actually Illinois is the overall number one seed over North Carolina. Just because North Carolina gets the winner of the play-in game does not mean that they are the number one overall team. Duke earned themselves the number one seed with winning the ACC tourney. I honestly didn't see that happening and thought Wake/UNC would win it. I don't necessarily agree with Washington over Wake Forest though for the number one. The committee punished them far to harshly for losing to NC State without Chris Paul. Just my thoughts on the number one's.
Fast Luck - You overlook the fact that we (Washington) beat Stanford and Arizona twice and UCLA once. We lost to each of them them only once. Washington had a big year this year and played like champs, they deserve it.

The reason why Wake didn't get a one seed is because they didn't want three ACC teams getting it.
I thought they would suprise people and being a Duke fan I thought they had a chance to win it and called that they would win it. That being said, saying they will win it and feeling really confident about it are two different things. I have to worry about my bracket now with them facing Syracuse so early in the tournament. I think Syracuse gives them match-up hell.

But with duke winning the ACC tourney they had to give it to them

I think they deserve a 1-seed more than Duke, however. I know Duke won the ACC tournament. But when I compare them to Wake Forest... Well, Wake did not have Chris Paul, possibly the best player in the country, when they lost to NC State. They will have him in the NCAAs. I would not really count that loss against Wake too badly. They finished 2 games above Duke in the regular season. I am not that impressed by Duke winning the ACC tournament, because I look at it as a win over Virginia, a win over NC State, and a win over Georgia Tech. That was a hot GT team, and a good NC State team, and a bad Virginia team, and I don't think those three wins make up the ground they had to cover against Wake's season. My problem is that Duke is a #1 and Wake is not. I'm not saying Duke does not deserve it. If they were both #1 I wouldn't be griping.
Only one big shock here in my mind and that was Washington. Wake Forest, Louisville, Kentucky, and Arizona can all make a point that they deserved that spot over Washington. I was expecting Washington to be a two or three but not a number one. Gonzaga has a very easy path to the sweet 16 and I don't think Wake (if they win) should sleep on them. I won't be very surprised if the Zags come out of the Albuquerque bracket. Nothing like March Madness and this looks to be a very good tournament with a lot of upsets. Just sit back and enjoy!
I felt that Wake Forest deserved one over Washington, but if you look at all the quality wins Washington had, then you could make a case for them to get a 1 seed too... Louisville are the ones who got screwed. They'll be coming out today as the 4th ranked team in the nation, and the committee hands them a 4 seed. I can't stand Louisville, but I really think they were screwed. They're more like a solid 3 seed to me, or even a 2 seed.

As I mentioned in another thread, Louisville easily got screwed. Ranked fourth in the coaches poll and they get screwed. Now, going from a potential number one seed, to a fourth seed. What's worse? A matchup with GTech in the second round. How fair is this. I'm close to furious with the seed they have been handed out. Though, I still have them going pretty far in my brackets. But I am still pretty mad. I think a two seed would have been nice, but a four was not even in my mind. Winners of 18 of their last 19, and 29-4 overall, and you put them as a four seed? Come on.
