I hate that Ewing is assistant coach, and mentor for Yao... I hated Ewing's game and how he was outplayed by Hakeem/DRob/etc, and never won a championship... I only wish it would be Hakeem who taught Yao... We would have The Dream Pt.2... I've seen Yao put some spin moves/fakes/turnarounds, reminds me of The Dream everytime [IMG]

Wonder what he's doing nowadays (except funding extremist groups lol)... someone should bring him back to Houston to take Ewing's place [IMG]

i agree. Yao ming is more in the style of hakeem's play. teaching him how to play ewing's style could corrupt his skills in the process. i'm not saying patrick ewing is a bad player, in fact, ewing is one of the best. it's just that yao is a different type of player, and he's great as he is.

Olajuwon is in Jordan studying Arabic, I think. I don't think he has too much interest in basketball at this stage in his life, actually.

yep Hakeem is in Jordan.........Pat's game isn't the same as Yao, but I still don't mind him giving Yao a few tips.....after all dude is one of the best centers to play the game............just because Yao has a bad game, doesn't mean the blame should go towards Ewing, because none of us are at practice.

Well, truth is Yao isn't Ewing or Hakeem's type of player. He doesn't have the agility to play like Hakeem who was pretty agile and could actually move pretty fast. Ewing on the other hand was a more post up player and defensive type player. Yao could learn from both of them, but since Hakeem's in Jordan, Ewing is a good a center as any to teach Yao. Sure he might turn Yao's low post skills a bit mechanical, but hey Yao can adapt and learn himself. Yao knows his own flaws and problems, so he doesn't really need a teacher, but more of a person that guides him.
