so here's the situation.. I didn't have a tv last season so i rarely watched rockets played. One of my friend told me that Yao Ming played better last season with Stevie Franchise rather than this season. But then again, if you look at his numbers this season, it really shows an improvement almost in all categories.. So what do you guys think? has he played better now than last season? is Franics really the most suitable player for him?

I don't think he played better last year, overall. Maybe it just seemed that way since he was by far the best option last year, wheras this year we have a number of other weapons.
Last season, Francis had nights where he got Yao the ball, especially after Mark Jackson latched onto the team to coach his passing abilities. However, there were also games where Yao got little to no touches while Francis tossed up 25 shots, rarely hitting better than half of them. With this season's team, Yao just has more options to pass the ball to, as all five starters are capable of making shots. He doesn't have as much pressure to lead the team to victories as McGrady can do just that.
Francis is a ballhog, plain and simple. Look what happened in Orlando - all his teammates complained about him hogging the ball so they play him at the 2 now with Jameer Nelson at the point to get everyone involved. I think this will be a problem throughout his career until he accepts the fact that he needs to work on this part of his game. JVG was right last season in trying to get him to dribble less... There were many times he'd dribble the shot clock down to 2-3 seconds left and then heave a desperation shot to beat the clock.
Is Yao better suited with Francis????............No.........the reason why Yao didn't look good at the beginning of the season was, because he was trying to learn how to play with new teammates.........now that he has a good supporting cast around him, I think he's better than he was last year.......I love Steve to death, but dude is a shooting guard trapped inside a pg's body
No. The only reason why it would seem they played well was because they had a nice friendship and in the beginning of this season, Houston didn't play that well. Often, Francis was the shoot first type point guard which definitely didn't fit in with Van Gundy's system. He needed a true point guard that would pass Yao the ball and find him openings. Instead, Francis would usually jack up a bunch of wild shots or drive in way too much and lose control of the ball. Yao got a lot less touches than this year that way. This year the entire team would pass him the ball whenever he was posted up, so it allowed for him to get into his groove and knock down shots.
i really dont htink that francis and yao played better together because if you look at the way the rockets are playing this season with the addition of tmac wesley and barry, we incorporate yao into the game and he has become more aggressive as of this season then last. when we had first accquired tmac in the beggining of the season yao was always defering to tmac and vice versa but when francis was here he was the go to guy to put some points on the boards but now that yao has become more confident with teh help of his teammates he has had much more of a better season this year then last.
No. Yao Certainly Does Not Play Better With Francis. Don't Get Me Wrong Steve Is A Great Player But He's Somewhat Of A Ballhog. T-mac Who Is My Favorite Player Dishs The Ball 2 Yao And Let's Yao Put Up A Few Points. Yao Wasn't Actually Doing A Great Job Last Year. So Yao Doesn't Actually Play Better With Francis.
What matters most is winning... the Rox are winning more with TMac than was the case with Francis... I love TMac's game... Francis had no faith in his teammates, whereas TMac does... always kicking out to open teammates without hesitation, but when the situation come to it, like he did against the Spurs earlier this season, he is able to just impose his will and get unconcious. He does what it takes to win.
