Taylor is the #2 scorer in the country, and ANDY KATZ says his game is built for the NBA. Where will he go?
Coppenrath is a player but I dont belive he will be taken until 15-22...He isn't the ideal player for a young team trying to build he would fit in well with the Utah Jazz or Denver Nuggets...
Earlier mock drafts tended to have him a mid round 2,I think that's off,and late rd 1 or early rd 2 is more likely. Vermont plays in a "small" conference, yet the guy is a shooter. I expect he will be better than a lot of higher picks once he gets the minutes. Not likely he'd go lottery,he's not a real explosive athlete
As a BU alum, I've seen a lot of the guy the last few years. He's a tough guy to judge because he doesn't have a lot of speed, and he doesn't have a lot of muscle but as you said, he can shoot the lights out. A great word to describe him would be "crafty." He does all the little things very well. I think he will be a late 1st, early 2nd rounder at the start of the projections. The biggest question about him is how how he would perform against players from bigger schools and conferences. He had something like 23 against Kansas, but that was early in the season, so people seemed to have forgotten it. If he does well against Hakim Warrick and Syracuse it would be a big boost for him. If not it will be all about how he performs in idivdual workouts and pre-draft camps. I think he would be a great complimentary player for a team on the rise. He's not a franchise guy, but as a spot starter and bench player he could have a long career, so I would put him down towards the 20's for the draft.
Well for the folks crying Top 5, Top 10, even Lottery, you will never see this kid go that high. Those type of picks go to (weather deserving or not) to potential, to the ticket sellers, the "name" players and the young kids who look to be super stars. Now I think Coppenrath is a talent, and I love a mid-major kid who proves all wrong. But Taylor is going to be a late first early second. He will be drafted, a huge Tourney (damn he handled Syracuse) will rise his stock, but your draft position is make or break in work outs. You want honesty, it depends on how he does against individual players in team workouts before you can get a gage on where he may go.
