My brain started to work (unsual, i know) when i saw this article. Tell me what you think. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Your first instinct might be to say Kevin Garnett, who's running away with the rebounding title. He's averaging 13.7 boards a game, which is nearly two more than his closest competitor. Considering his sizable lead, it seems heretical to suggest somebody else is the league's best rebounder. But it's true. Though hardly a household name, the Seattle SuperSonics' Reggie Evans is putting Garnett to shame with his rebounding exploits. How did I arrive at this conclusion? It all starts with a simple premise: A player can't get a rebound unless somebody misses a shot. Following from that logic, the best way to rate rebounders is by the percentage of missed shots they reel in, not by the amount they pull down per game or even per minute. </div> interesting way of looking at it. I never realized how good of a rebounder evans really is. full article <font size="1"><font color="Red"> When posting an article <font color="BLACK">ONLY</font> quote the first 2-3 paragraphs of said article then provide the link to the articles origin. ~Dre</font></font>
Yeah, that was a very interesting article. It gives a new understanding of how rebounding works, and I thought it gives credit to rebounders that dont get as much as KG. I still feel that KG is #1 in rebounding, basically due to the reasons he included, but it shines on other great rebounders.
I Would Have 2 Say That The Best Rebounder Would Have 2 Be My Man Big Ben. Ben Has The Power 2 Just Jump Up There And Grab Both Offensive And Defensive Boards. He's Just A All Around Good Player !!
Let's see. . . <u>Shaq</u> League Average- 7.2 Rebounding- 7.2 <u>Kevin</u> League Average- 9.5 Rebounding- 5.2 So i'm considering Kevin to be the better player since Kevin plays Forward and Shaq is Center. Just don't look at Yao Ming's L.Avg or Reb. . .
This is a very interesting article. Rebound rate is really interesting and this is probably the best way to see who is the best rebounder in the NBA. Gotta give props to Reggie Evans for his rebounding effort beaying out Kevin Garnett. Do you think guys that rebound rate will be a new stat in the NBA? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MizzMcGrady1:</div><div class="quote_post">I Would Have 2 Say That The Best Rebounder Would Have 2 Be My Man Big Ben. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting mrj18:</div><div class="quote_post">JON: OMG, are you guys crazy??? Why isn't Tim Thomas up there? Reggie Evans</div> If they had the reverse of this stat, smallest % of rebounds grabbed than tim would be up there
rebound rate or not, a great rebounder is a great rebounder You knicks fans complain about Tim Thomas, wait till you see Micheal Olawakandi, he's 7 feet tall, plays center, and TT can prolly wipe his ass in the post

19 rebounds in 27 minutes for Evans today, following on from 16 in 28 minutes against the Knicks. These are Jamie Feick numbers, people.

Reggie has proved he is the best rebounder in the game by far this season. This article shows how some stats are misleading and they must be looked at in perspective in order to judge them.
Rebound rate is the best way to do it because it also takes into account the amount of rebound oppurtunities the players team get's etc. A guy on a team scoring 95 points a game on 45% will get less rebound chances than a guy on a team scoring 100 points a game on 43% shooting. Anyways, I thought no one would ever mention Reggie Evans rebounding beastness, but his rebounding has been Rodman like. 9.4 rebounds a game in 24 minutes a game, it's just crazy. His rebounds per 48 minutes is 19.3. Per 40 minutes: 15.8 rebounds, thinking of a reasonable amount minutes he could play, Per 32 minutes: 12.7 rebounds, that's just scary. This is why many times in player comparisons or in evaluating a player I use advanced stats, because simple stats more of the time mean nothing, but many people put a lot of basis on them.
Reggie is the Beast! Nothing more to say. He has this Rodman-like mentality that every ball that bounces off from a rim will be his. Great hustle player - I think Sonics wouldn't be nr.3 in the West without him! He's my favourite player right now...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phunky420:</div><div class="quote_post">Reggie is a freaken thug...he just fouls people way too much.</div> Wooow hold on with that statement! Some sour grapes perhaps? Reggie destroyed your favourite team on boards? Looks like it...
Yea, for this year, Evans has been the most impressive rebounder to me. He has the will to grab boards, and earns it more than anyone, unlike somebody like Shaq. If Shaq was half as good as Reggie Evans on the boards, he would of have had won atleast 2 or 3 rebounding titles already, instead of none. My Top 5 would probably be something like this: KG, Evans, Wallace, Marion, Duncan (No Particular Order).
