<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Jazz have been quite pleased with the work of point guard Keith McLeod, who had nine points and a couple assists in his return to his native Ohio for Utah's 92-73 loss to Cleveland on Tuesday night. McLeod, from nearby Canton, starts now for the Jazz. But the Bowling Green product began training camp in the No. 3 point spot that previously belonged to Mo Williams. Among all the problems the Jazz have had at that position this season, the one that has hurt most is neither Raul Lopez's recent season-ending knee surgery nor the January trade of unhappy ex-starter Carlos Arroyo to Detroit, Jazz coach Jerry Sloan says. Rather, it is the decision last offseason to not match Milwaukee's offer to restricted free agent Williams.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
Anybody care for a re-run of a post I made last October? "Gotta like Lopez but the truth is, he's damaged goods. Riding a bike while the rest of the team starts practice." "You heard it here first. We're going to rue the day we let Mo Williams get away to the Bucks for a lousy 5.5 mil over three years. That was dirt cheap for a player of his caliber." Just the way I see it.............Tank
The Jazz could really use Mo Williams this season. He brings energy and effort, and he would be starting on this team IMO. He fits in well under Coach Sloan, and he will only get better. He's putting up 10 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds in 27 minutes in just his second year. Hopefully KOC learns from hindsight and locks Keith McLeod up in the offseason.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Stockton:</div><div class="quote_post"> Hopefully KOC learns from hindsight and locks Keith McLeod up in the offseason.</div> I gotta respectfully disagree! We're using Kieth McLeod because he's what we've got! He is not....I repeat.....not the future for the Jazz at PG. Ask yourself if you would entertain the notion of signing DeJuan Wagner when he walks from the Cavs this summer. He and Mc Leod are enough alike in performance to be twins. And neither one of them are legitimate NBA material. Just how I see it................Tank
I see where you are coming from, but although McLeod is by no means the future at PG for the Jazz, he is good enough to be on the roster next season. Just look at his numbers. The other Point Guard's the Jazz have are Raul Lopez, Howard Eisley and Randy Livingston. It's far to risky to consider that Raul Lopez will be healthy on a consistent basis, and Howard Eisley isn't exactly getting any better or younger. The Jazz will only sign him if they're desperate. Randy Livingston hasn't done much to prove he should get another contract at all. For those reasons, I believe the Jazz should sign McLeod, hopefully to be used as a back up, not a starter.
I agree with Stockton on this one. I know Keith is no savior at point guard, but he is the best we have and I think we need to give him atleast a two year contract for back-up purposes. Mo, on the other hand, I think could of been a starter for the Jazz, but we had to let him go. Maybe we'll get a good point guard in the draft or get a good one in the free agency.
