I'm going for either a Suns-Heat matchup or a Sonics-Heat matchup. I don't mind if any one of those teams win it so it would be a fun finals. Don't care for seeing the Spurs in there but it beats seeing the Lakers again.
Spurs vs Heat. Though I love the rockets to be in it. maybe next year and yao put on another 10 kilos.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bahir:</div><div class="quote_post">Im hoping Suns vs Heat in the finals, with the Suns winning in 7 games... And dont give me that "they need a big man" or "scoring teams dont win championships" because they are winning in the regular season and the playoffs shouldnt be any different.</div> When was the last time a team won the nba title and didnt play defense? no one i can remeber, the bulls, spurs and lakers all played gread defense, and do i really have to remind u of detroits d?
I am thinking Heat and Mavericks. I hope the Suns continue to do well cause they are fun to watch.....

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWohl:</div><div class="quote_post">Heat vs Suns</div> That would be a great series if that materializes. Talk about high scoring.

It was a fun, high-scoring series with Houston winning in a sweep. Since then, all the best teams have been strong defensively. Sacramento and Dallas were good teams, but not nearly as good as the Lakers or Spurs. This year, there's a lot less of a gap between the high-powered offensive teams and the defensive teams, particularly with Duncan getting a late season injury.
interesting an intereting finals would be Suns vs. Detroit.....opposite styles of play conflicting.......i think detroit would win becuase they we able to shut down NJ's run game last year
Suns run game > NJ's run game Pheonix just has so many weapons, i think they would be the best test of the Detroit D. There are 5 very legit big time scorers on that team and there bench has some good one's too. It would be hard for Detroit to shut them down, since they'd almost have to play them straight up all the time, doubling is tough. Zone would be ineffective because of all the great shooters. Detroit is a great team, and its amazing what they can do with the players they have, but i think Pheonix would be to much for them. Then again, I said that about the Lakers last year, so we'll have to wait and see. In all honesty i still think Miami is going to eliminate the Pistons in 7 very hard fought games.
I have a couple thoughts on this. First one is this: IF the Chicago Bulls have a healthy team, meaning that Curry is good, Hinrich, and all the other injured (except maybe Deng, not sure about his injury), than my prediction looks like this: San Antonio vs. Chicago However, if Chicago isn't healthy, than it's this: San Antonio vs. Miami Now, before you all jump on me and say I'm being biased with my Bulls pick, here's some food for thought. Since the turn of the new year, the Bulls have compiled a 33-15 record, which if I'm correct, is the best record since the turn of the new year. Beyond that, they've compiled winning streaks of 7, 5, and 9 games. The only team with a longer win streak this season is Miami. And if you look at their recent run of 10-1 over their last 11, they have always been without a key player. Whether it be Hinrich for a five game stretch, Curry the last few, Deng the last couple, Harrington has missed a few, pretty much the only sure things have been Gordon and Chandler. So that shows that they're capable of not only winning, but winning without everyone. Imagine if they actually have a healthy team, than think of the damage they can do. And finally, they have what is big necessity come playoff time: Defense and depth. This is a top five defensive unit in the league nowadays. And everyone knows the saying that defense wins championships, it was proven true last, the year before, and many other times over the course of history. Than they have depth. What is depth good for? Everything. If your bench can score 40 ppg like the Bulls' bench does, it takes pressure off your starters to perform. It allows players to have a bad game here and there. Beyond that, it allows you to keep fresh legs in during a good part of the game. And the fact that Chicago can go 10, 11, or even 12 deep, that's gonna be huge for them come playoff time. So, you can argue my reasoning and do whatever, but I think if Chicago is healthy, they have to be one of the favorites to take the Eastern Conference and represent it in the Finals.
I do agree with you Moo and you made some good points like if their healthy they can be very succesful, they have great depth which can be very helpful, and having a stifiling defense. But I just don`t see Chicago making it to the Finals. I`m not saying that Bulls have no chance at all on earth but IMO they have a great chance of making it to the East Finals and knocking down teams such as Detroit, Washington, and Philly. But the NBA Finals? I don`t see it happening.
Bulls are a few years away to being a elite team. They got a good nucleus though and a darn good coach and a underrated GM.
I totally agree.. It would been a much more exciting series if they had Curry and Deng in the lineup... I would have loved to see a health Bulls team vs. a health Miami team. That would have been an exciting series.
I already have money on it being a Spurs vs. Pistons finals. Two best defensive teams in the league.Detroits the defending champs and have all the tools they need to come out of the east(over Miami). The Spurs are the Spurs. All they have to do is take care of the ball and rebound, two things they have no problem doing, against the Suns.Plus theyre a championship experienced team.I think the Spurs beat the Pistons in 7 games simply because of homecourt advantage.
