If all the contract offers are about the same, I'd come back to Toronto.'' . . . </div> Man, Matt Bonner is a great guy. He has great work ethic, a humble and pleasant personality, I think he is a player that we'd love to keep in Toronto. Not to mention how perfect his nickname is. Link
OOOHHHHH yeah, i think that he might become a starter next year or our 6th man... im hoping he keeps his word and he stays here
If Matt Bonner is ever a starter, then we're in trouble. I hope we keep him. He's a great energy man off the bench. He'll be taking up most of Marshalls minutes, so he'll be averaging around 10-12 PPG with 5 boards. I just hope he doesn't become the Brian Cardinal of this offseason.
I don't think Marshall will return after this season........ But yeah, come to think of it, there is kind of a resemblance in style between the Red Rocket and the Custodian.......
he wont and shouldnt be starting. he's best suited at the 4 spot, and if he's ever starting over bosh, there are some serious problems but id love to have him as our 6th man/instant offense and energy/hustle guy off the bench. he's a great guy...ya gotta love him
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting asdf:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't think Marshall will return after this season........</div> Yeah, we know, that's why I said he'll be taking up Marshalls minutes. Meaning that he'll be getting the minutes Marshall has right now off the bench, next year...Just to clear things up...
I don't think it comes as a surprise, but it's definately very good. Bonner though isn't a starting player, he's best suited as a scorer and shooter off the bench. He's just not a good enough defender and rebounder at the 4 to be a starter, unless the team is very thin at the position.
I just hope we don't have to overpay him this offseason. He's a good player and our best spot up shooter since we had Dell Curry. I think in time Bonner can evolve into a starter in this league. A lot of you don't think so but I do think that some day in his career he could be a better than average starter in this league. He has the best mid-range shot out of all the Raptors and his 3 point shot is starting to come around as well. Those are great tools to start off with early in your NBA career.

Imagine him playing with Shaq and/or Wade though
Bonner has to stay for sure but i remeber some jerk on fan 590 called in and was like go boner go and hung up...... REAL MATURE BUD!

C'mon people let's be creative!
He looks so out of place at the three though, and like you said, he's a little slow footed, but unless your team is a team made for zone, I don't think you'll re-adjust your game plan just to start Bonner. It could work though, but I'd even rather have Bosh at the 3 than Bonner.
Chuck Swirsky constantly raves about Matt and how much the "Red Rocket" loves Toronto. Well, at least for now. The Raptors are always stuck with some kind of conflict/controversy, it's actually sort of funny sometimes.
