    D'Antoni

Mike D'Antoni recieves way too much credit for the Suns success. All he does is hand the game over to nash. He does no coaching and his gameplan is just to run. The suns play like they are playing on a playground, no set plays or intricacies. He deserves almost none of the kudos he gets.

How many coaches would've opted to go with a small lineup for the whole season, and also play the style he plays? With a different coach, this team could've gone from #1 seed to #4-6 seed. I don't feel he's the coach of the year, but don't dicredit what things that seem small like that can really do.

Many coaches might have had Q-Rich off the bench, and started Hunter or Voskuhl, and maybe not placed an all offensive style, and just that little move could change a lot for the team.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">matrix has good numbers when it comes to blocks and steals, but that's not always a guarantee that a player's a top defender. gilbert arenas averages a bunch of steals too, but he's not what I'd call a stopper. marion isn't very physical, and he struggles to guard players quicker than he is. i don't like that pick very much. i think there are others more deserving...</div>
Doesn't struggle against quicker guys, he's one of the quickest SF's in the league, and he's playing at PF. What he struggles agaisnt is stronger and bigger guys which is about everyone he plays. He's an above average man to man defender, and good at defensive stats, but he's no DPOY.

    Most Valuable Player: Steve Nash
Shaq is such a boring choice. He should be satisfied with the Laker's demise and the Wheaties box.

Rookie Of The Year: Ben Gordon
Emeka is overrated. If Dwight Howard had the same opportunities playing on an expansion team, I bet he'd be an 18-12 guy. Ben Gordan would probably have averaged over 25 ppg.

Defensive Player Of The Year: Tim Duncan
Strangely, he hasn't won this award yet despite being universally recongized as one of the greatest defensive players of his generation (how many Defensive All-NBA teams has he made in a row?). And he's the pillar of arguably one of the greatest defensive teams in league history.

    Most Improved Player: Manu Ginobili
He's emerged as a real star in the NBA, after being a good role player last year. He still plays only about 30 minutes a game, hence he doesn't put up big numbers usually, but anyone who watches the Spurs know just how good he is.

Sixth Man Of The Year: Ben Gordon
He averages 15 points in 24 minutes a game. Per 48 minutes, he's number 11 in the league in scoring at over 29 points. Ricky Davis is a close second, but he's playing 30 minutes a game which makes him more of an alternate starter than a sixth man.

Coach Of The Year: Nate McMillan
It's basically between him and Mike D'Antoni. Seattle has had to deal with more injuries and much less talent than the Suns, and I credit their turnaround mostly to Seattle's coaching staff.

<font color="Blue">Rookie of the Year - Dwight Howard:</font> The best combination of statistics and team's success. If it was all statistics then Emeka Okafor earns it. If it was all about team's success then my vote goes to Ben Gordon.

Are you serious. Where you thinking straight when you wer thinking this. Best cmobo of stats and team success. Of course it's Gordon without question. Lemme toss you sumthin that doesnt go on the stat sheet games won all by himself- about 6 Howard-0

    MVP- Shaq
    6 Man- Gordon
    Rookie- Gordon
    Defensive player- Big Ben
    Coach- George Karl
    Biigest Suprise- Chicago Bulls
    Biggest Disapointment- Orlando Magic
    Most Improved- Larry Hughes

I don't know, the Magic aren't in the playoffs, but not in the cellars, and that post was probably made when they were still in the playoffs battle.

    Gordon's 15-2-2 isn't better than Howards 11-10-1.8 blocks, so yes it's a fair argument.

I was saying they're about as good as each other, and you could argue Dwight's is better because it's not like Gordon is averaging 3-4 APG or 1+ SPG either.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">A lot of people mention Bruce Bowen as a candidate, but he's not a defensive player and he's never been a defensive player. He's got a seven-footer behind him who can block shots. What's his defense? Run you at the seven-footer? You put a seven-footer like Tim Duncan behind me, who's gonna get defensive player of the year, me or Tim Duncan? The deal with Bowen is he's 6-7 and there's not many people who can shoot over a 6-7 person </div>

Thank you Scottie Pippen, Ginobili is better than Bowen too, Bowen really isn't near as good a defender as many people seem to think he is, I mean just watch him, he's decent, but DPOY is laughable really.
