Starting 5
Davis
Jrich
Dunleavy
Zarko
Biedrens

Subs in order
Pietrus
Murphy
Skita
White
Fisher
Foyle

We need to get a good look at our guys, especially the ones that are options next year. At this point it looks like Skita and White are gone. They are not playing and I dont think they will be playing here next year. Unfortunately I wish we could trade Fisher and Foyle away for something and keep Skita and White...

I wouldn't mind seeing Zarko start over Troy either. I like his all around game alot better but it probally wont happen. Im not giving up on Murphy yet, he's a hard worker and always improves his game in the offseason but if he doesn't show the necessary improvements(post game and defense) next season thens he's gotta go.

I believe Murphy is part of this team's future. That is what the plan is and that is what the contracts say as well. So I don't think benching Murphy, who is one of the team's better talents, for Zarko would be a great idea. The rest of the season would be a good time for Baron, Jason, Mike, Troy, Foyle(or Biedrins) to get a lot of time playing together to get ready for next year. If Murphy is benched, then I don't see that happening.

Also I kind of hear what you are saying. So I will say that it would be nice to see Zarko and the other new or foreign guys to get lots of playing time so we can see just what kind of contribution that they could make. But I wouldn't go as far as saying that the Warriors should bench Murphy in favor of Zarko, especially with Murphy being one of the team's most skilled player, and a player that the team has a lot of investment and interest in.

(side note on one of the sigs...)And Mike Dunleavy being "The Spark" is kind of funny. I unfortunately fell asleep watching last night's game, which was really hard to do, since it was such an exciting game. But I was pretty tired. But maybe I have been missing something for Mike to get the name "The Spark"...

I don't think anyone argues that Murphy is talented. Simply put... he's not ready to be the starter. This season his legs just haven't been there. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, because I remember his fire from a year ago. However I think his skills do not quite fit the rest of the team. I wouldn't bench him either, but I would find a way to cut down the rotation to make the primary bench players being Biedrins, Cabarkaba, and Pietrus.

I saw start Biedrens and Zarko because they play well together as opposed to Dunleavy and Murphy playing together...

Murphy is the man when it comes to catching passes, grabbing boards and shooting off the catch. Plus he's had some of the funniest post-game dialogue at times. Remember last year how he described how he was pressing in limited minutes off the bench coming off injuries, he was like "So I'm dribbling the ball up the court and the f---ing ball goes flying out of my hand..." or something to that degree trying to explain how an otherwise easy play led to a big turnover. He's such a character. I think the biggest problem with Murphy is not inside scoring (we know he gets stuffed by smaller players a lot lately), it's his lackluster defense. I think he's caught somewhere between not being fast enough, too flatfooted and being too injured to really hustle, elevate the way he wants, so he plays without effort on the defensive end because he can't really do it. He will get decent (Mehmet Okur decent) when it comes to post moves. I'm not worried about that aspect of his game which will most likely be developed during the summer. But his ability to stay in front of his man and alter shots is probably not going to be there. That's like telling Stephen Hawking to get up and walk. Easier said than done. Murph's gotta do these things when he's 100%. Right now he's probably trying to work hard and prove to peeps he deserves that money and he won't be another Danny Fortson.

Maybe spark is what described his sudden improvement in his own game late in the season. It just suddenly sparked. But he hasn't set fire to the roof yet. Not like Jrich at least. Jrich is playing like an allstar.

I dont know about that. I mean he's a great rebounder and pretty reliable jump shooter but what else does he do? Maybe draw fouls once in awhile but thats all I can think of. Zarko can do all that aswell plus handle the ball , create plays for others, score in the post, and defend somewhat decently. I think he can turn into a poor man's Dirk Nowitzki for us if he gets the playing time. and his confidence keeps rising. Murphy's just gotta expand his game, the team didn't really miss him when he was injured..

Well thankfully Dunleavy stepped up at the right time to make some fans switch sides on the Murphy/Dunleavy bandwagon [IMG] It's a tie between the two. I can't figure out who fits until they start showing some defensive prowess. Dunleavy looks better at this point, even though Murphy is one of my favorite hard nosed players with great hands.

My starters would be:

Baron
JRich
Dunleavy
Zarko
Foyle

I would like to start Biedris (I realize now that Dick Stockton had it right last night when I thought he was hacking it up) but he's too green and that would mean giving up on the game from the start.

I think it is the exact opposite. I think Biedrens plays better than Foyle and having Foyle start means that we are giving up the game.

Common now, gotta cut Murph some slack, the guy has been banged up this year. His hairline fracture on his thumb is still probably bothering him. As for Zarko, yes I see the potential in him, but as far as being proven.. he's so far a few hit wonder. But hey, what's wrong with having Zarko back up Murphy anyways? A good 1/2 combo. I mean it's like Pietrus, he had his glory days. Now? Just occasional bursts of good performances, then falls back down to crappy decision making and poor shot selection. I think the very next season, like we always say, is the year the Warriors will show the west coast we are true ballers. Looking at the team right now, I think we have the pieces if Biedrins continues to grow and get stronger, to outplay the Lakers easy. Sure we have a bad record this year, and the team is not even full strength, but in most games we're hanging around. We're not complete blowout losers.

I'd like to see this

PG: Dunleavy
SG: Baron
SF: Mickael Pietrus
PF: Zarko
C: Andris Biedrins

What about it. Run Dubs!!!

If Monty wants to follow Muss' footstep, I am sure he will put Jarko and Biedrins in starting line up. If we do so, it basically means Mullin spent 140 mils and 24 mils per year (which is more than half of the caproom) in last offseason to strengthen the bench. At this point, certainly Murphy is struggling. But, it's not like we are fighting to win one more game at this point, and in future, Murphy's role will be a starter while Jarko's role will most likely be a reserve. So, it's more natural for Monty to start players that he will start next year. Only way for either Jarko or Biedrins to start in front of Murphy and Foyle is to play head and shoulder above them, so that Mullin has no choice but to start them, and that's not happening at this point...

Murphy lost some spring and quickness in bulking up,and missing some action injured further affected his wheels. He will play into shape for this season and figures to work on getting a little better legs, stamina,in the offseason. Generally if you have a guy pulling 11 rbd you don't want to bench him. However the Warriors would do well to give the bench a bigger piece of the action and perhaps even change the general notion of "starter",having ,sometimes,a different lineup start partly to keep opponents guessing, partly to keep players fresh as well as used to playing various looks

Well actually Murphy over time has shown that he is the team's best rebounder and one of the teams most best shooters on the team. Murphy can score from so many places on the court. He can come out to the perimeter. He is actually a good penetrator, especially with that pump fake. He gets points off the boards, and is a great pick and roll option. I also believe he is able to get to the line often when given the opportunity. And being able to score and rebound usually makes a pretty good player. Murphy is long enough and strong enough to bang inside. And wouldn't it be only fitting to have your future starting lineup play with eachother as much as possible(kind of like Kwam was saying). I mean, maybe we can try to keep Zarko rolling with increased minutes, but to bench Murphy now, in favor of Zarko, doesn't seem very smart. Also playing together as a unit, the starting lineup can iron things out and get used to eachother more and more, so that the weaknesses that each individual has can be overcome by the other 4 players or what not.

Also what does "fitting" mean with this team? Has this team really put together a serious identity yet? Maybe a perimeter shooting team, or I am not sure. But until they do, what does "fitting" have to do with anything? Just because Murphy could be struggling, don't make him a skapegoat and forget what he's done for this team over the past few years. This whole roster is pretty much a miss-match kind of roster.

Hey c'mon now. UltimateWarrior wanted me to make him a sig and I could not think of how Dunleavy fit into the equation. He's like the "glue". I am sorry Custodian. I was just trying to pull your leg or whatever you call it. Just playing...But yeah I see what you are saying. Why can't Murphy be the spark? haha...just a thought...but yeah...BJM all the way! Except for maybe some Pietrus as well..Pietrus can be the Spark! haha...yeah...I am not getting anywhere...but no hard feelings attended...

Man not at all! The only reason Murphy and Pietrus weren't on the sig because it was requested by UW that Dunleavy be on there with Jrich and Bdiddy unless "Dunleavy started to piss him off ". With Dunleavy as the third overall pick in 2002 and projected to be the next Larry Bird/Dirk Nowitzki type threat, let's just avoid the snickering and pretend it's a sure bet happening in the next couple of years [IMG]

I was joking about that "until Dunleavy starts to piss me off" comment. I chose the Baron, Mike, Jason trio because they resemble the original Run TMC trio the most.

I've been peaking at this team since the Baron Davis trade, and if Davis can stay healthy and lead this young squad, they have potential to be a very good team in the future. Biedrens, Pietrus, Murphy are all solid players and top that off with Jason Richardson and Mike Dunleavy gives this franchise a very bright future. And to be honest I'm slowly starting to become a Warriors fan and I'm actually rooting for them. [IMG]

Go Warriors!

But ehhh back on topic. I like the starting line-up of?

PG Davis
SG Richardson
SF Pietrus
PF Troy Murphy (I like this guy)
C Biedrins

Since I'm just starting to look at these guys my lineup may look a little crazy, but from what I've seen so far I like this lineup. Murphy is one heck of a rebounder, Biedrins is a freak and Richardson and Pietrus are dripping with potential. And I won't even get to Baron Davis.

PG: Dunleavy
SG: Baron
SF: Jason
PF: Zarko

But the best thing to do in my opinion is

PG: Baron
SG: J-Rich
SF: Pietrus
PF: Dunleavy
C: Biedrins

People off the bench in order:

1: Zarko
2: Murphy
3: Skittles
4: Fisher
5: Foyle
6: White
7: Cheany

It's risky, but we can score and play D. Murphy hasn't been doing very good lately and is taking down Dunleavy with him so replace him with Pietrus who actually plays D. Zarko is the first off the bench for either Pietrus or Dunleavy and we go back to regular. Then Murphy will come in for Biedrins, Skittles and Fisher at same time for Zarko and Baron and J-Rich for whoever
