Knowing there were some good games on today, I signed out of school at 9:30 to watch them. Florida was beginning to run away with the game against Ohio, being up by as many as 20. Ohio makes a huge comeback and ties it up with around three minutes to go. Florida barely hangs on to win by five. My friend John must be pissed, he took Ohio to the Elite 8 Charlotte vs. NC State was a very frusterating game for me. Charlotte goes up by as many as 14, with five three's in the first half from Plavich(nation's best shooter). NC State makes a 26 point turnaround and defeats Charlotte by 12. I'm very disapointed with the play of Charlotte in the second half. I was looking for a first round win. Iowa State defeats Minnesota, 64-53. Also, Oklahoma State defeats SE Louisiana, 63-50. Some great games upcoming and tonight. Don't miss em!
Iowa State defeats Minnesota, 64-53. Yes, that pissed me off. Why? Because that is another change I meant to make and never got around to it...If I could just turn back time, I wouldn't be worrying and stressing like I am right now...blah, stupid Minnesota..
The Florida game scared the crap out of me and my dorm floor who was watching the game in the common room. Roberson saved us so badly on that air ball by Lee. We were so cocky once we got up by 20 and I gotta give props to Ohio, they played hard as hell and I thought they were gonna upset us with our 1st and 2nd round luck, but hopefully we can come out sharp in the 2nd round. The missed dunk is what turned the game around to our side. If he made that, I think Ohio would have won.
I am doing great today. I haven't picked one wrong yet. I knew Iowa State was going to win. I have got to watch Minnesota play a lot, and about all they have is Grier. I was pretty nervous about the North Carolina State game. I was with the Wolfpack to pull the upset all along, but when Plavich and Charlotte got hot right at the beginning, I got nervous.
Yeah, I'm acutally having a good day so far..,haha I followed all the game on espn's scoreboard, and thought for sure that Charlotte would win because Plavich looked to be on. But NC State must have gone on fire. Still can't believe Florida blew that 20 point lead, but all that matters is that they survived.
Twentysix point turn around! I'm still furious over that game. Plavich was swooshing three's in the first half from well behind the three point line, yet, they still blew it. Ah, I'm doing pretty bad so far. Seven total losses.
I made the mistake of picking with my heart this year. I knew that Iowa State was a better team than Minnesota, but being the Big 10 junkie that I am, I could have never picked Minnesota to lose. That's pretty much how all of my wrong picks have gone so far. They've all been games that I would have picked if I just picked with my mind instead of my heart. By the way, it looks like St. Mary's losing. That gives me like a 5-3 record so far today, pathetic.
The only team that has messed me up today is St. Mary's. I thought for sure they could take Southern Illinois. They didn't shoot the ball as well as they usually do, and that was ultimately their demise. They made a slight run at the end, but I never felt like they could have won it. The Chicago Bracket has absolutely killed me. I have five total mishaps, and four of them are from Chicago. Alabama, LSU, St. Mary's and Texas all blew it. The one upside is I didn't have any of them advancing to their next game.
Sports.yahoo.com front page said it best about did anyone had Bucknell and Vermont. I sure didn't. I thought Vermont had a shot of beating Syracuse since they matched up well even though I picked Syracuse to win that game, but I never figured Bucknell would pull this one out. Congrats to both teams. Like I said, I was very happy to see Vermont's coach Tom Brennan finishes his great coaching career with a postseason win to remember. Those two colleges is something I plan on remembering when the tourney is over. What they did was something special. George Washington really dissapointed me. I thought they would be a lot better. I thought they would have beaten GA Tech. Stanford comes up lame as usual in the postseason. I underestimated Iowa St. They are pretty good on defense. The Gopher struggled all game long against their D. I had Ohio winning and they almost pulled it out till Florida got it together at the end. The rest of the favorites got it done tonight. Now it's on to rooting for underdogs and enjoying it. I just hope NC State makes my weekend by beating UConn.
After the First Round Before I went to bed, I thought I was doing all right. But then I woke up, and Kansas had lost. I'm sure I wasn't the only one, but had them in the Elite Eight. So that screwed up that. Also, Syracuse lost. I had them in the Sweet Sixteen. Stupid Vermont. Stanford totally sucks. I don't think I will ever pick them again. The only thing I am slightly proud of is my Albuquerque Bracket is still perfect. And at least all my Final Four teams are still in. I have 24 right, and 8 wrong.
Yeah this first round wasnt too forgiving for me either. My point total is low but everywhre from my elite 8 up is in tact and my sweet sixteen didnt take too much of a hit. So im still trying to be optimistic
