I would love to see that.

I think Don Nelson is a darn good GM and he would do well. McHale makes Nellie look like Jerry West as GM in comparision.

Donnie was promised to be the head coach of the Mavs, but apparently Cuban had other ideas. I think Donnie would still love to be a head coach in the NBA and he could be a darn good one. I think he would be a great fit.

I think the Nelsons want to run a team and I think those two would be a great fit for the Timberwolves.

I hope they consider for this job.

I too would love to see him here. I think a recognized coach would finally straighten our team up. Also, I think he would have no time for Sprewell or Cassell.

But the problem is he resigned so he could spend more time with family. Hopefully, that is just a temporary adjustment.

Nelson has never been a coach that puts or demands that defense be a first, second and last option of means to getting a victory, so I say he isnt a good fit for the Wolves. The Wolves needs a coach that will demand a quality defensive effort every night. But will also bring so concepts to the table that will help these guys improve defensively, a Jeff Van Gundy type of coach. The style he presents makes up for the fact that guys on the team arent great indiviual defender. Now of course Van Gundy isnt on the market due to the fact he has a current job. But I definately think that the Wolves should make sure that what ever coach they bring in will instill a defensive concept, granted I know alot of people think Sam & Spree wont listen because of them being hard headed vets in the minds of many. Well I think that if Spree re-signs(which I doubt), but if he does then him and Sammy will come into training camp with a different mindset next year, cause believe it or not Iam 100% sure that this isnt the way they want their careers to wind down. And I think you will see a diferent effort level from the start of training camp from those two. But I think they need the right coach to present it to them in the right manner, sometimes with veterans like Spree & Sam you got to play on their ego's a bit. But still know how to stand your firm position of who is exactly running the show. And I think thats where Flip Suanders failed, he had guys running their mouths in the papers, complaining about playing time etc. And then when they do this he would give in to it. The next coach cant be so passive in his management of the team imo.

I agree. I think when a coach stays in one place too long he is going to become somewhat "soft" with the team. I now realize that it was for the best that Flip moved on, because it opens the door for them to bring in a tougher coach that will push the players, discipline them, and bring out the best in them etc. The players have to respect the coach for it to work, for the players to be able to work with the coach.

I dont want to see Don Nelson coaching Minnnesota, and Henacy covered why pretty well. Hes a decent coach, but not the kind this team needs. This team needs a Phil Jackson or Larry Brown to really start turning around.

Henacy: I am guessing Eric Musselman might be your pick for Timberwolves head coach. He would be a fine fit. I say Nellie only because he is pretty good as a GM too.

Pure: I think he has a lot of coaching skills still in him so I think he will eventually be back coaching.

What do you think about Jim O'Brien? He's old-school and is about Defense.

Not a O'Brien guy. Sounds like he likes to win with jump-shooters.

We can do better than him. With Paul Silas available, he is my first choice.
