What's up with these projected high picks?

He's supposedly young Zyldrunas Illgauskus/young Ardyvas Sabonis.

Good passing big man that has physical skills and shooting touch to be dominant in the future. Good coordination, good movement for a guy his size. If you're a big guy, you can move, you can shoot and pass, your stock goes up.

 

I looked at NBA Draft.Net today and hunted down what stats I could find on the assorted Euros,S Americans etc they rate so high. In the Euro adult leagues they all have stats that are farfrom impressive. It seems to me if someone is tall,but averages 4 1/2 rebounds or is said to be a great athlete,but score 6 ppg,or he's a good passer but there's almost no assists---I gotta say good based on what? Luke Schenser at Ga Tech is barely seen as Rd 2 but he did have decent numbers in some games in the ACC. While there are players abroad,the fact is that in Europe,US players who didn't get an NBA shot are often the stars,with a core of veterans who were not good enough to already be NBA picks...and backing them up are these youngsters. They moved Martynas up to #2 this week. Fox had a 15 sec highlight clip. He made some nice moves I guess,but the other team played zombie defense so what it means is-----? Gerald Green got dropped about 8 slots-tonight on a dunk he looked over the rim,stuffed his arm through to the elbow. He also hit 2/3 of his 3's and looked like he'd make a good point G. Diogu entered-they have him down around 22,below Petro,the 7 ft French guy who has so little game he makes foyle look like Dr J.... Larry Roberts almost dropped out of rd 2,but a couple more Euro mid size-less than 10ppg guys got added. I believe my eyes,as I started watching hoops in the Russell/Cousy era. That rant I guess I did before,I hope OTHER teams take the bait and hire these guys who have nothing on their resume. Some of these import teens may,in 4 years,be ready to deliver-about when their conracts end. Some will vanish quickly. Of the dozen expected to get taken,one will be a keeper,will be NBA grade fairly quick....but we have seen nothing,the stats say nothing,so which one is the diamond and which are just glass?

 

Sabonis and Ilgauskis were NBA skill level international standouts when the NBA took note. At this time ,with this kid,its a crapshoot. Late # 1 maybe I'd risk my pick on a kid who still is that raw,but pass up all the other solid players in the pool on such a fantasy-no thanks
