I am just wondering if its just me or does it seem like 80% of the shots the other team makes are layups or wide open uncontested shots. I meant the Lakers got no stops in the 4th quarter against the sonics and it cost them
It's not just you, the Lakers defense is atrocious. Every night you hear the same stats, the Lakers are losing the points off turnover battle and the points in the paint battle. Not only do these easy baskets hurt the defense, it hurts the offense. It gives teams a chance to get back and set their defense instead of the Lakers being able to take advantage of more layups and fastbreaks. The Lakers are reacting to the defense instead of the defense reacting to the Lakers offense. I lost a lot of confidence in the Lakers after they lost to the Hawks. The only positive about the Lakers this year, is it has forced me to watch more college basketball. There's a lot of talent that the Lakers can get their hands on in the draft to fill their defensive holes. At least Caron Butler finally had a good game since the All Star Break. With Odom out, I think the Lakers should just shut him down and put him on the IL. Let Devean George come off and at least get him back on the court. The Lakers have gone back to launching 3's again, too. When ever they shoot more 3pointers than FTs it leads to a loss. Whenever they give up over 100 points it leads to a loss. Whenever Chris Mihm plays less than 32 minutes it leads to a loss. Wheneve Odom shoots less than 15 shots a game it leads to a loss.
Yeah I thought Caron played great defense while he was with the HEAT. Right now, Kobe plays defense but he cant be everywhere to guard... Don't worry every team has ups and downs. We had 3,4 losing years until finally picking it up. I don't expect the Lakers to have 3,4 losing years, it should be much shorter than that. Getting a big guy is more priority to the Lakers than getting a PG cuz you still have kobe to bring the ball up for the next 7 years or so. Let someone with defensive mentality stay inside and contest shots and on the other hand let Kobe set that guy up for easy dunk. You know the basics of basketball... I'm still waiting for Odom to step it up....
