<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">His former teammate, the NBA slam dunk king, waited outside the locker room.

Inside, Randolph Morris sat on the floor of Kentucky's dressing room in the Georgia Dome, his long frame wedged into a corner.

His mood was somber. Minutes before, his Wildcats had absorbed a 70-53 thrashing from Florida in the SEC tournament championship game.

"This will be valuable as a learning experience," said Randolph, a freshman center for Kentucky.

The year has been ripe with lessons for Randolph, a Landmark Christian graduate who famously teamed with Dwight Howard and Josh Smith on the Atlanta Celtics AAU team in high school. Howard, the first pick of the 2004 draft, by the Orlando Magic, is vying for rookie of the year honors. Smith, the one waiting to greet Morris on Sunday, starts for the Hawks.

"I think it's been a real good experience," said Morris' father, Ralph, "to help get away from home and have to learn to make decisions for himself in a controlled environment, as opposed to being in the NBA, where he'd basically be on his own."

A McDonald's All-American at the Fairburn school, Morris' freshman season has been relatively quiet. Starting 26 of 30 games, Morris has averaged 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds. He was not named to the conference's eight-player all-freshman team</div> Source

I think Morris made a great decision by coming to college and you can tell that he definitely wasn't even close to being ready for the NBA. Next year will most likely be Morris' last year at Kentucky because you can already tell that he is starting to mature and has lifted his game a whole lot the past few games.

Morris is awesome, but I hope he stays more than one year more. I think it will do him good, they are going to have an incredible year next year with Morris, Sparks, Azubuike, Rondo, Crawford,Alleyene, Thomas, Bradley, Moss, and other players returning they are going to be unstoppable. Hopefully they have learned from the game against state and will return better then ever. Morris on the other hand is the key to uk considering the fact that Chuck Hayes will be gone, he will have to step it up and be a huge contributor in the paint!.. GO CATS!

Morris is going to be a dandy but one thing that hurts him is that he gets in foul trouble early. He also needs to work on his shot selection this summer and also try to put on at least 10-15 pounds.

He'll most likely declare for the 2006 Draft, in my opinion.

I'm glad Morris will learn from this season and get better. Part of Josh Smith's team, so i gotta have love for the bigman.

Yes, I believe he will declare for the 2006 draft, although I wish he would stay, UK is going to be a powerhouse these next 3 years with all the freshman talent they have now, I guess we'll just have to see how next year goes.

Good move, staying in college shows he's alot more mature then a lot of kids.

I completely agree. All of this players are rushing into pro sports without taking into consideration what the effects might be. Most are greedy and only are doing it for the money, hopefully Morris won't be like that.

I thought he looked great when he went one on one against Dwight Howard on ESPN2, but I saw many Kentucky games this year and Morris was a huge let down in my eyes. He fouls everything in sight like that guy said, and he is incredibly slow. Looks like he has cement in his shoes or something.

I pretty much agree with that. He does get in foul trouble often, and may look slow at times, but thankfully these things can be learned and perfected in the off season. Hes a freshman, certain things can be expected, but he will improve greatly. he will definitely stay at uk next year, and possibly even jr. year.

Good move by Morris, to stay another year under Tubby Smith and work on his game. He can be possibly a lottery pick in the near future but I don't think it would be this year if he were to come out. I'll see him in the '06 draft pool though.
