<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In losing five of nine games in March, including three in which they held second-half leads, the Clippers' playoff dreams might be fading. But one bright spot has been Corey Maggette. In scoring slightly less than 27 points per game, Maggette might be the NBA's most productive player this month.Maggette is averaging seven rebounds and four assists in almost 38 minutes per game. He has been very efficient, making more than 50% of his field goals (73 of 145 attempts) and shooting 88% from the free-throw line (88 for 101). And this stretch includes one of Maggette's worst games of the season, a three-for-14, 10-point effort in a loss to Denver on March 5. But despite his recent strong play, Maggette has been unable to lift the Clippers to victories in close games such as their four-point overtime loss to Sacramento on Saturday. Once in the final seconds of regulation and again in overtime against the Kings, Maggette failed to connect on key shot attempts. Both times he looked for foul calls from officials.</div> Source
Corey has been making better decisions lately, and also his shot has been falling. He's definately been killing othe teams defenses with his slashing ability, and has had a great month so far. I think he's averaging about 26 PPG, and he has some 30 point games. Again down the stretch though, he was looking for the foul way too much instead of just trying to score the basketball, this has been the teams achilles heel, not having anyone to constantly produce down the stretch.
I actually like that aspect of C-Maggs game. He always looks to draw the foul instead of settling for a jumpshot. Getting to the line is something he excels at. Maybe down the end of games he should make some adjustments, because refs swallow their whistles in the closing seconds, but the more he does it, the more pressure he will put on the refs to give him that call. One thing C-Maggs really needs to work on is recognizing where the double team is coming from and being able to pass out of it. I always see him get trapped in the corner or along the baseline. Sometimes I think he has an idea of what he wants to do with the basketball instead of adjusting to the defense.
He puts his head down and charges at the basket, and once that happens, it's hard for him to adjust. Good game today though by all the Clippers, Brand had 6 blocks. Anyways, if Maggette had an outside shot like Michael Redd [lol], and the Clippers could stay healthy, they'd be contending for a Top 6 playoff spot, but that's also if the managament got them a better bench, and spent some money.
