Kurt Thomas & Penny Injured <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Knicks received a double-barreled injury hit yesterday when Kurt Thomas and Penny Hardaway were felled by ailments that could sideline them for a while. The normally iron-man Thomas missed only his sixth game in seven Knicks seasons last night, and first in more than a year, because of an infection in his left elbow. Hardaway was placed on the injured list with a persistent right hamstring strain, and was replaced on the roster by 19-year old center Jackie Butler, who scored the first time he touched the ball in his NBA debut. Thomas, who has been battling pain and stiffness in his left elbow the past few games, was diagnosed with infected left elbow bursitis and did not even make it to Madison Square Garden for last night's 88-75 victory over the Spurs. He was being treated with antibiotics and was listed as day-to-day. Herb Williams said he didn't know when Thomas would be able to return to action, and could only hope he would be available for tomorrow's game against the Celtics. "When Kurt can't play," Williams said, "it's got to be bad." </div> Source
