<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vermont coach Tom Brennan hopes Taylor Coppenrath will be wearing a different green uniform next year. ``My only dream is for Taylor to play for the Boston Celtics,'' Brennan said. ``I think he was born to be a Celtic.'' The 6-foot-9, 250-pound power forward closed out the most accomplished career in Vermont basketball history with Sunday's 71-62 loss to Michigan State at the DCU Center in the second round of the NCAA tournament. The three-time America East Player of the Year is projected to be taken in June's NBA draft, possibly in the first round. Coppenrath is a finalist for the John Wooden and Senior Class awards and feels he is ready to make the great leap into the professional ranks. ``The NBA is definitely a goal of mine and now I'm just going to get ready and see how far I can make it,'' Coppenrath said. ``I tried to put myself in a good position and if somebody likes the style of game you play and your work habits, that's a big help. ``It's definitely a tough road ahead. There are so many good athletic guys out there that are great shooters, so let's see what happens. But I'm definitely going to try and work it and put myself in the best position I can.'' </div> Source
I've said for a year now that I think he could be a great pro if people don't expect more than he's capable of. He's a spot starter and great 6th or 7th man, but he's not a franchise player. I think going lower in the draft would be great for him, because he could be good piece for a team thats close.
He has excellent instincts and can shoot, the issue wuold be whether he SF quick or PF strong...of course Larry Bird was niether,but.......
