Two years ago, Villanueva declared for the NBA draft out of New Jersey's Blair Academy but then withdrew his name and chose to accept a scholarship to UConn. The NCAA allows players to declare for the draft and retain their amateur status only one time during their careers.

Villanueva, who attended a team meeting Monday on campus, has until May 14 to formally declare for the draft.</div>

Pretty much done for, where do you expect him to be selected?

I could see him going fairly high, potential lottery pick. The guy has great potential to do good in the NBA. He has good size, he's a tremendous athlete, and he's quick and has good range for someone who is 6'10".

He probably will declare and will probably be a top 15 pick, but he will need to become more consistent something that he ahs done this year as opposed to last year. I personally think that another year of college and he could be a potential Number One or Two pick, but the dollars rule these days. He's going for sure.

Villanueva is nowhere close to be ready for the NBA. I understand he needs the money to support his family, but he is just not ready and he needs to learn how to play defense which is a must to get minutes from the coach.

He needed one more year in college in my opinion, but should eventually be a heck of an NBA basketball player when it's all said and done.

His team getting whacked by NC State because he was a liability on defense was probably not the last impression that he wanted to leave at UConn. Because of that I think that individual draft workouts will be key for him. I'll say he gets picked in the late teens.

I'd say he would go to a playoff team, which would mean not a lottery pick. He is still a little raw but has all the physical attributes to be a successful basketball player if he puts in effort at the next level. His college play has been up and down so it would be up to his individual workouts to really prove his worth. When all's said and done, I'd say he'd be picked around 16-22.

Actually both Villanueva and Gay were pretty mediocre on D vs NC St,Marcus Williams was more impressive. Julius Hodge, said to be a rd 2 ate up U Conn's front line. That said,I think Charlie has as much potential as Gay,both need to play tougher-Charlie is longer and can run
