So my question is? How will Allen Iverson be remembered? Yet with all these accomplishments one would bring him down solely because he doesn?t have a ring. While it's possible he may end up getting a ring before he retires, but at the rate this franchise is going a ring may not be on the horizon for Allen Iverson. But with his tremendous heart and willingness to win and the fact that he has established himself as thee greatest offensive little guy of all-time, well he be remembered as other greats such as Malone and Stockton players who never won a championship but yet are still champions at heart? Or will he be remembered as that street ball player that just never won it all? What is your take on this? How will The Answer be remembered when he hangs it up? Also keep in mind that he has another 3-4 good productive years left in him, so despite if he gets a ring or not there is still much more he can do in his phenomenal career.
When I think of Iverson Ithink of Dominique Wilkins. As far as Im conserned he is one of the 50 greatest players he was better then pip and worthy. But anyway they are both spectacular players that were never given a stong supporting cast. And in my opinion Iverson is a better player then Wilkins (pound for pound). But what happened to wilkens around the same time in his career as Iverson is that he was blamed for the Hawks lack of playoff success. When in fact the Hawks management couldnt get another bonefied star to play along side of the Feirce Wilkens. During the Last 2 years of wilkens career with Atlanta he was injured. The Hawks tried to ship him off but noone would take him. He came back from that injury to have the greatest year of his career only to be traded to the clippers. I hope the same doesnt happen to IVO. In my opinoin management should try their best to get some decent players around him. Playing on a team full of rookies makes the playoffs a slim chance. If not let him flourish some where else. To answer your question his career has been as successful as it couldve been when taking into account the lack of talent around him. the greatest player that he has played with is MOBO. And who knows what he and stackhouse couldve done together. Iverson has had successful numbers throughout his career, but no one guy can take a team to the championship.
i know you mentioned the 60 point game, but u didnt mention he's the shortest player ever to score 60 points, i think ai will be rememberd for he quick speed and how he plays hurt

Does anyone else have anything to say about this?
Bust or success, this is rediculous! Why should this question even arise, Allen Iverson is one of the premiere players in today's NBA, and will be remembered for what he is known today.
A.I. is not a bust. Just because he hasn't won an NBA Championship..basketball is a team sport and it's not his fault that he hasn't won one. He will probably be remembered as a successful player but one of the very few who hasn't won an NBA title.
I think it's literally impossible for Allen Iverson to be labled a "bust". Even though his career may not be complete without a ring his accomplishments are amazing, especially considering that this man is really about five foot ten tall. When Allen's career is over I think his fans will remember him as a player that gave 150% every game. Allen plays every game like it's his last and thats what I admire about him the most.
do you guys read the Threads or just look at the title and respond? Its annoying reading peoples response to an opinion that they have never read. You guys look at the title and try to reply to a few words instead of actually reading what the author is talking about. the title is not always the whole subject of a thread alot of times its just something to grab ur attention. The autthors question was "how will Ivo be remembered?" In the text the author makes no mention of his career being a bust. Its called Grade school Writing, by the 7th grade we shouldve all learned that the title of ones writing isnt allways the subject.(attention grabber) This will probably be erased but I had t get that off of my chest!

Here's my take on Iverson's legacy. The comparison to Nique was a great one, but I think Iverson is the Dan Marino of the NBA. Iverson got a taste of playing championship ball early in his career, as did Dan Marino. Everyone expected both players to make an annual appearance in the post-season and win a ring or two. Unfortunately Dan Marino never had a running back to balance his passing game, and Iverson has never had a post up player to balance his scoring game. From Derrick Coleman, Kenny Thomas, Keith Van Horn, none really fit in with Iverson and gave him the confidence to get them the ball. The only person who's coached Iverson and understood what it took to take him to the next level was Larry Brown. He surrounded Iverson with defensive minded role players instead of trying to find Iverson a 2nd option to play with. The year the 76ers made the Finals, Deke was the DPOY, McKie won the 6th man award, and the 76ers had guys like Raja Bell playing strong minutes off the bench. As great as Iverson is, I think he's one of the hardest players to play with. He's at his best when he freestyles on the court, but most players are used to a structured system. He's an unpredictably great player. In the end Iverson is going to be remembered for his stats and his heart on the court, just like Dan Marino.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "about Dominique":</div><div class="quote_post">As far as Im conserned he is one of the 50 greatest players he was better then pip and worthy.</div> I think Worthy doesn't get the respest he deserves sometimes because of the team he played in which didn't allow him to attain huge statistical feats. I really would've liked to know how good he would've been as the #1 man on a team though. Iverson will remembered as one of the Top guards in NBA history, he had a great will to win, and was a relentless player. I think many will say he never got over the hump of really learning to be a team player, which in turn would've given him more career team success, but maybe less individual accolades.
There is no way you could ever view Iverson as a bust. He has changed the game and dominated it at 6ft tall. Charles Barkly never got his ring either but everyone sees him as a Hall of Famer which is exactly what Allen Iverson will become and with some good years left in him and a never say die attitude, the Answer may just get that Championship ring. A.I we salute you!!!
AI will definitly be remembered for first of all, his toughness. At 6-0, when do you see a player like Iverson drive into the lanes and throw up shots against players twice the size of him? And the thing is, he keeps doing it, he never backs down from a challenge. Second of all, his heart. We all and (should) know that The Answer goes out every single game looking for a W and will not stop until he gets it. A while back he went up to Billy King and said "I need help out there, I need a second hand man." And with that he picked up Chris Webber. I won`t get into all his issues but basically what I`m saying is AI also is constructing this team into a winning team. Third of all, I think we`ll remember Allen Iverson about his attitude. He speaks his mind and lets everybody know it. He really doesn`t care what people think, he just wants to play the game he loves. Allen Iverson will and should be known for the rest of NBA history.
