<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Getting in the throwback spirit might result in George Karl throwing the NBA some greenbacks. But he believes Tuesday night's choice of attire will result in a lot more good than harm.

The Denver Nuggets coach wore a retro jersey on the sideline during a 127-98 rout of the Washington Wizards. Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe called what Karl did "cool," but anticipates the NBA will fine him for violating the league's dress code for coaches. "I've been fined before," Karl said Wednesday. "If I do get fined, I think it was worth it, just being part of the team (which also wore 1975-76 retro jerseys on throwback night). I think I've been a little tight lately. It brought me closer to the team. It brought me back to them. I've been on them a lot and we're winning. Sometimes that doesn't make a lot of sense."

Spokesman Tim Frank said the NBA is reviewing Karl's attire and any possible action could come as soon as today. Karl, who donned the jersey over a turtleneck and also wore warm-up pants and sneakers, violated rules by not wearing a sport jacket or slacks.

"It was great, it was fun," said Vandeweghe, who anticipated discussing the matter with the NBA.

Karl said he has been docked between $1,500 and $2,000 for previous violations. </div> Source

That's BS...If anything, I see it as him helping them market and sell those retro jerseys for Reebok..

I didn't see this, but the thought of it made me want to track down a picture of it.

He should be fined for not wearing any 'bling' with the retro jersey.

dont fine him, PLEASE!! he was wearing it to be closer to his team, what is wrong with that? the NBA needs to lighten up before they become tightwads like the NCAA.

They allow injured players to sit on the bench with their team while wearing street clothes but actually care to punish a coach who supports an NBA-funded Hardwood Classics night? That makes alot of sense to me as a fan.

Let's just hope he doesn't try to show up the league ala Rasheed Wallace and show up in the old school nut-hugger shorts for the final few games of the season.

HAHA that is an awesome picture. He looks kinda stupid wearing it but its a good idea.lol. You can tell this throwback fad has gone way too far when GEORGE KARL is rockin em now too. Anyways, I could see why he did it but if you are the NBA you have to fine him so coaches dont start looking stupid and messy on the sidelines in the future. funny stuff though.

My man got his Jersey tucked in like a button up that is crazy..anyway I guess its his way of showing that he is now making it a point to try & relate to the new generation and players of the league, because after things fell apart in Mil-town & then with team USA a few years ago the big knock was that Coach Karl could no longer relate to the new wave of the NBA and its players. But I think in some ways even tho Iam not the biggest fan of Karl's he is proving alot of his critics wrong threw the success of the Nuggets. And doing something like that is sorta symbolic to such I guess.... All in good fun, the NBA should let him slide but they wont, the NBA is all about presentation.

I just think George Karl was just trying to have some fun. Okay yeah if I were him I`d throw on some dress pants and dress shoes but still, fineing him is pretty rediculous. They should at least let him slide or something. Another question, did he ask the NBA if he could? That`d be a good idea...

When players dress up as pimps or wear shorts so baggy they look like Rodman's wedding dress,it's bogus to fine Karl for dressing up like a basketball player. Prhaps if he dressed up like the mascot it would be okay?

    funny

He looked hilarious wearing it but there is nothing wrong with it. Why is it wrong trying to connect with his new team?

I don't think he ever got fined. If I'm wrong, someone post it.

They let players have tatoos all over their body, but they can't let a coach have fun for one night? What kind of basketball association is that?
