i dont see why ppl are unhappy everything is going good

Lakers are officially tied with orlando and if we keep it up we'll be worse than clippers and NY in no time!!!!

It seems as if every game the ping pong balls increase [IMG] [IMG]

Forget the play-offs guys think if we hit the lottery 2 years in a row which is likely we'll get Salim Staudemire and J.J. Reddick and we'll be on the rise and win 45-50+ in the span of 4-5 years.

Come on Lakers LOSE!!!!! So far my MVP of the season is Chucky and Tierre bcuz when i look back to this season in 5 years ill be thinking w/o them we wouldnt have gotten the pick than woulda changed the team's future.

The Lakers don't need to tank to get Salim, and JJ Reddick will be at Duke again next year. The last thing I want is the Lakers finishing behind the Clippers. This year there are no sure things like LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Yao Ming, Okafor, Howard ... Bogut is the closest to being ready to contribute right away, but I doubt the Lakers get the top pick anyways. The Lakers are 3 or 4 players away from being a contender. They need a major upgrade at PG and in the frontcourt. They need players willing to sacrifice their body and play defense.

Better yet, they need to get rid of brian grant's big contract. he isn't that bad of a player, but he just doesn't live up to the 11 million dollars a year.

I thought you were going to say you saved $ on your car insurance!
Even in the face of a horrible season, I dont think its good to root for your team to lose! I would know...I've been a Clippers fan for years...and understand about losing!
Lakers need to keep playing hard...not only for themselves...to find out who is worth keeping...but for the fans who are still there...even after the bandwaggon departs.

Yeah that's a given, and I'd be willing to package some picks to get it done. He's actually making $14M.

I can't believe you are saying we should tank the rest of the season. Shape already pointed out that there are no sure things in this draft, and we are only a couple of peices away from going back to contender mode. We need a good pg (Felton) and a decent big man (Turriaf would be perfect). We don't need to tank to get any of those players...

Couple of peices HA couple of superstar peices

Turriaf Lamar + Mihm would be the softest frontcourt

    Why not tank?
It's not like were gonna make the play-offs even if MIRACLE happens nuggets lose we'd lose to Spurs in 1st round. So take this time to showcase tradebait (atkins, walton, medvedenko, hell whole roster i guess) No sure things in Draft i know but winning would only hurt our positions.

Trade all our SF's and get 2 or 3 quality power and with Kobe and Odom + all those powers we'll be the new sonics

The Lakers need to play for themselves and the fans. Even if they play more bench players...they need to see who is worth keeping. They need to keep loyal fans entertained. If you have Atkins whining, play Sasha. See what he is made of. Hell, play Kobe, Walton, George, Slava, and one other person who understands the triangle. That might be entertaining to watch. But you dont just quit. Its bad for fans, team morale, and it is bad for other teams still trying to make the playoffs. The Lakers tanking could mean another team might not get in.

Tank is driven by Jerry and Mitch

JBuss and Mitch Kupcake tanked this and probably next season the minute they agreed to the worst trade in NBA history. Now all we Laker fans can do is hope for the future and the more ping pong balls we get the better our draft position may be.

This thread sounds awfully familiar! [IMG]

Well I understand the frusturation losing 8 straight games, seriously I really do...remember I'm a Knicks fan talking [IMG]. I don't think you'll need to tank as the lottery is almost certain for the Lakers. There aren't any sure things in the draft as was mentioned, but with 2 picks I think something is bound to be decent. Guess you guess better start doing reasearch!

We all know that the Lakers are in a transition phase right now so I'm content with going lottery. Like Shape said, we're 3-4 players away from coming close to being a contender...but for the love of God, Lakers, please win soon. At least be the better team in LA.

A team should never tank it, even if it means they could get a better pick. There are some benefits in tanking, but what is it saying about the franchise? It's something no one should be proud of, in the NBA you should play to win in every game. A lot of fans find it hard to support and take pride in their favourite team when they know that their team is tanking, because how can you really support a team that isn't trying to win?

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">What do you think the Jazz did?? [IMG]</div>

A Jerry Sloan coached team would never tank it.

"My job is to try to help players get better, not teach them how to lose,"
    - Jerry Sloan.
