If 'upset' is what you want to call it. These teams are pretty even as far as I'm concerned.

imho, anytime a #5 beats a #1 it should be considered an upset..
but anyway, Michigan State is still up by 6, with a little over 3 mins to play

Duke is showing a lot of heart with a small unit still trying to win the game. Shelden Williams played a great game, but Paul Davis ended his night and has been huge for Michigan State all game long. He's been gathering all his missed shots and getting to the line. Michigan State had a game plan to stop Reddick, and it's been effective because the players have executed it. Ager and Anderson have brought a lot of energy to the game and even Torbet hit a big 3 to extend the lead to 6, after Duke was gaining a little momentum. Michigan State will probably end up winning by double digits, but this game could have gone either way.

    -Same record.
    -Both play in good conferences.
-MSU lost to one team that didn't make the tourney.
-Duke lost to 2 teams that didn't make it (Maryland twice)
-They went down to the wire earlier this year (@ Cameron)

They can put whatever numbers they want to in front of these school's names, this was not an upset.

This wasn't an upset. Like 44 said, both teams were evenly matched. Great game..glad to see Duke lose.

Yeah, definitely wasn't an upset IMO. These two played earlier in the season and Michigan State pretty much gave it to Duke at the end. But they beat them when it counted!

I guess you are right, this is not an upset as in 'a huge surprise', as the teams were evenly matched during the season. However, for some reason Duke got #1 seed and MSU #5, how would you explain this?

The main reason would be that Duke won the ACC Tourney. The selection commitee loves to overrate ACC teams, so that had to help them quite a bit. (Didn't help them against MSU, though)

Two conflicting sides for me here:

I had Duke winning the game (and making the Final Four) but I wanted MSU to win the game since I'm a fan. Last year I had MSU going far and they were upset, so I couldn't gamble again this year.

Well, my bracket is fine, since everybody else either had Duke or Syracuse from that region. Also, I'm glad MSU made it!

    Go Michigan State!

Good to see you popping in once in a while. [IMG]

I actually called this game, so cheers for me. Paul Davis was simply dominating tonight; 20-12 should really have upped his NBA draft stock against a projected top five pick.

Yeah, but I think it's because many predicted Duke would win this one.

    Good job by Michigan St.

I thought Duke had a great year. To go this far was a good acheivement by Coach K.

Great game played by MSU and Paul Davis who had a 20-10 game most have been pretty impressive to NBA scouts and like Trip said he would have probably raised his drafted stock after tonight.

And one more thing, JJ Redick is coming to a poster near you thanks to Alan Anderson [IMG] ...
