sixers not far from one of the top teams in the league?

I would think that with the young talent that they have with Dalembert, Iggy, Korver and Green as well as the leadership of Iverson and Webber (assuming he stays around for a while), wouldn't you think the sixers should be competing more for the NBA championship sometime soon?

I dont know but for ivos sake i hope some of the younger players in philly work on their game during the summer. If so they have the potential to be a strong playoff team. Who knows what Webber will do Im sure hes still hurting from the trade and he misses home. But of he turns this trade into a positive he will be a big part of philly becoming a championship contender.

looking back on the 2001 team, i don't see why they couldn't make it back to the finals. there is probably more competition now in the east though especially w/ shaq joining dwayne on the heat. but i think if the young guys keep improving, they could be back up there w/ the elite teams in the east at least.

Top team in the league? Nah, I don`t think so. Contender? Yeah. Give it time for those young guys to develop, maybe like 2 years. As for AI and C-Webb, actually I think its just C-Webb, if he plays more like he did last night, shoot and rebound better, they could be a top contender.

If you think that green is a good player, which i do, well he isn't playing much thanks to jim obrein. hopefully that will change soon.

i was just looking at the game stats for willie green and aaron mckie and i can't see why o'brien wouldn't play green more. mckie's last game against toronto he played 25 mins. with 0 points, 4 rebs. and 2 asts. green's last game was only 3 mins. against detroit in that arse-whoopin' and he scored 3 points. green should have gotten more playing time at least against detroit when they were up big. i think o'brien needs to switch green and mckie in that depth chart.

I think coach was trying to let c webb enjoy the blowout to help sooth his departure from the Kings.

i guess so, but at some time don't you have to let your young guys prove themselves? when willie has played he's been awesome, so why not give him the playing time he's earned?

Philly has a good core to build around they got everything a good team needs, Big Man, check, Long Range player, check, Leadership, check, GOOD Veterans, check, Hardnose defender, check. What more do you need? Not much maybe a better inside scorer than Dalembert and a good backup point gaurd. This 2004-2005 Philly team is great, and next year with all that they've gained this year should be better. This year Philly is most likely a 2nd Round playoff team, next year they could be a serious contender to win it all.

the only thing is that next year they will all be older, like AI, CWebb, Mckie, and Jackson.

yeah, but only one year older than this year. i don't think it will make that much of a difference.

In 02-03, Gary Payton was a 20 PPG scorer. When you don't count last years terrible excuse for a Lakers team (not a bad season, but did not meet expectations) he dropped off to being a role player this year in averaging 12 PPG. In other cases, one year can certainly make a difference. I believe that with someone like Chris Webber who is showing signs of deterioration in his game, it is always a possibility.

I have to disagree with most of you on the McKie topic. While Willie Green is younger and has given us a reason to hope for a better future, he does not produce when Iverson is on the court and unlike McKie, is basically rendered useless when the ball is not in his hands. The 3 points he had in the Detroit game was during garbage minutes in the 4th quarter, at which time the likes of Darko Milicic (ouch) was running the floor for Detroit.

Top team? If you mean top 5, I'd have to say no for now. I don't think we've seen the dynamic duo we wanted to see actually 'gel' yet. Against Detroit and last night against Toronto, they showed great signs of progress. Lets hope it stays this way.
