The game was all theres. Dwayne had deliberately missed the free throw so he could get his own rebound. What does he do? He takes the ball to the corner and takes the three which is a shot he's not used to taking. He could've taken a short jumper, passed it to someone else or even call the timeout. Perhaps all this hype is getting to his head. What do you think?
In the Heat of the moment (no pun intended) guys don't really use their head when in that position. Wade was either thinking he didn't know what they needed or he wanted to finish It in the 4th and not have to go into OT. It has nothing to do with any hype, It is just a typical reaction for an NBA player.

Just look at Chris Webber in the 1993 championship game he called a timeout with no timeouts left giving the game to NC. Was he overhyped?.....Okay bad example....but you get my point.
Hype has NOTHING to do with it. Thats like asking if you can experience beer taste loss from a fooseball table lol. Wade just thought that he needed a 3 to tie instead of a 2. He made a mistake, and sometimes that happens. As much as we witness the heroics he performs on a nightly basis, Superman and Spiderman dont exist, Wade is human.
Yeah just a mistake Please don't try and put the blame on Wade..sure his mistake was costly but he won us more games than he lost. Hype has nothing to do with it. Wade is still humble.

It`s time like these what goes through NBA players heads in these clutch seconds. Should I shoot? Should I pass? It`s all on you.
he shouldn't have shot a three, they didn't need it. if he makes it, he's the hero. if he doesn't, he'll get the blame. unfortunately, hi didn't make it. you gotta admire him for his guts, though.
:| Okay, I'm not going to spaz, but seriously, it was just a bad decision, where the hell could you possibly come up with "Like omg wade is so overrated, its all that hype he isn getting", everyone makes mistakes, he isn't perfect.
everyone, everyone. Dwayne Wade is clearly my favourite player. I just wrote this thread to hear your opinions. All I'm saying was that dwayne knew the heat were down by 2 and he decided to take a three. No doubt he's won more games than lost for us this year but as much I don't want to say this, he might have wanted to play hero once more. You should've seen eddie jones after they lost the game, he was pointing 2 fingers at wade with an angry look. That shot he took now jeapordizes them having first place in the association and home court perhaps against a suns team in the finals. Just a reminder, he's still my favourite player but I truly do think he wanted to play hero again.
I don't think he knew because he's not really the best three point shooter, it just doesn't make sense if he knew because why not just go to OT, and then ice the game there?
honestly if you read the game's recap on nba.com , wade knew the score, but he tried to hit the three. He said "We had an opportunity to win the game. I hit it and I'm the hero, but I missed it and I'm not". Don't get me wrong coz wade is one of my favourite player, but his statement above kind of hit me, it makes me think that instead of trying to win the game (there's a high chance they could win if it goes to overtime) , he was trying to win the game AND be the hero.. Well, i really hope that i am wrong coz i love his modesty
I think wade just just meant that is he thinks he's the guy that should take the shot to win or lose the game, which I think everyone will agree with, even shaq does (I think). It's not like he thinks conciously 'I want to be there hero', I mean he's just doing his job. It was simply poor shot selection.

Everyone wants to be the hero, but when the game is on the line with the goal for homecourt, you have to make the best decision. Everyone knows that there is a certain "rule" that is usually followed which is the home team plays for the tie (they have the crowd) and the road team shoots for the win. But you have to remember that he's been clutch before and just thought that he could end it now.
Based on his quote, it seems like he did know the score. That was simply put, a stupid decision in that case. He knows he's not a great three point shooter, and he could have easily tied the game by shooting one of those floaters in the paint that he's so good at. Heck, he could have just lobbed it up for Shaq and that probably wouldn't have tied it too. He simply wasn't using his head in that situation. I remember in the Houston-San Antonio game where McGrady won the game for us with those 13 points down the stretch, he had an opportunity to tie the when he got the steal but decided to shoot a three pointer instead. THAT was a good choice, because: (a) He was dribbling from the other side of the court, so he didn't have a lot of time to drive in and go for the two. ( He was extremely hot from the 3 point range, as he had just hit 3 in a row in the previous 30 seconds or so. © If it went into overtime, chances are that San Antonio would have beat us. By contrast, Wade had a good two point shot but decided to dribble back to the corner which is a much tougher shot since his momentum is carrying him away from the basket. Also, Wade has hit about 3 three-pointers all year. And thirdly, the Heat would be heavily favored to win in an overtime session.
It was a mental error, he thought the Heat were down by 3 instead of 2. There was nothing more to it than that. Either way, I think it's inexcusable that the game against the Bobcats even came down to the last possession.

but <div class="quote_poster">Quoting balluva:</div><div class="quote_post">accord, wade clearly said he knew the score in NBA.com.</div> he knew the score but it was in the back of his head. Like, he knew he was supposed to take a two but he wasnt thinking straight and took the three.
